Athena POV (After)
"I.. can't," I avoid Onyx's eyes. "This is all your fault, if it wasn't for you she'd be alive!"
"Do you ever care about anyone other than yourself??"
"Worthless little-" CRACK!
I closed my eyes tightly and breathed. Don't remember, don't remember, you're okay and you're- I open my eyes and am back in the present. And you're here, and she's not,"
"Onyx, you don't.... I'm-... Look, can we just drop this?" I lower my voice in hopes that she can't hear the desperation in it.
Onyx must've noticed because she sighed, and agreed solemnly.
---
"Yeah, look up a little, no your stare is too bored, imagine there's a puppy waiting for you at home," I snapped a few pictures.
I was doing a rooftop photoshoot with Onyx. I know, it's been done a million times. But today I decided I wasn't going to do anything too fancy, just something to clear my head. Whenever I take pictures or edit I feel like I'm looking at a story unfold. Only, it's a story I can actually control unlike my life.
"Okay try a more you pose do whatever comes to your mind," I move back in front of the camera. "Rude," I laugh at Onyx's obscene gesture, taking a picture anyway.
Onyx now improvised a bit, doing whatever. "You know I tell you everytime you ask me to do one of these I'm not a model."
"And yet you're so good at it!"
She sighed while leaning against the wall looking downwards. "If you say so,"
"Give me a hint of a smile, like you just finished laughing at something," Onyx grinned slightly, "No, not like that,"
"Well, try to make me laugh, then," she suggested from her pose.
I thought a second and then smiled, "Okay, what do you call a sad cantaloupe?"
"I feel like this is going to be horrible," Onyx seemed to brace herself. "What?"
"Meloncholy!"
Onyx grimaced, then gave a pained laugh, "And I was right, did you just come up with that?"
I simply only grinned back, looking at the photos I'd taken today.
While I scrolled through the pictures, Onyx looked at her phone. "Quittin' time! Colton is downstairs,"
"Okay," I started packing up my things, taking off the lens from the camera and collapsing my lights and tripod.
---
I had just uploaded all my pictures to my computer and was starting to edit one when I heard a knock at my door. "Come in," I muttered distractedly.
"Hey," I stopped what I was doing and turned around. Jay stood in the doorway.
"Hey, I haven't seen you around lately..." He trailed off.
I sighed, but didn't answer. So, Jay's a nice guy with great abs, but I don't want a relationship. I'd say right now, but I'd be lying through my teeth.
"Yeah, I-uh... yeah," I'm still editing a picture, but I'm not focused anymore. My mind starts wandering and despite my better judgement I open my mouth. "Hey, Jay?"
He tilts his head to the side slightly and raises his eyebrows a in response.
"Do you want to... I mean... uhm, like..." I brush a few stray pieces of hair out of my face. "Sorry," I said, shaking my head. "Do you want to hang out? With me? Today?"
