I've never felt this way before. My palms are sweaty, my knees shaking, and it feels like my heart is about to jump out of my throat.

I let Calum drive me home in silence. He doesn't ask me what happened inside Michael's house, or why Azalea didn't walk out with me. He just knows.
Azalea hadn't believed me. I'd thrown a fit in court, screaming at the officials until my voice was hoarse. And yet, she let Michael manipulate her again. As much as Azalea hates hearing the word, she is weak. She is the weakest when she is with Michael.

When I open the door to my house, my family is waiting for me. My parents embrace me in silent welcome, and Lauren comes running out of her bedroom with a squeal.

"Ashton!" She screams, wrapping her little arms around me.

"Lauren," I laugh, kissing the top of her head. "I missed you."

"I missed you too," she says, and pulls away distractedly. She then grabs my hand and prances to Harry's room, dragging me with her. Inside, Harry is watching TV in bed with a box of tissues by his side.

"Hey, little man. Are you okay? I heard you were sick," I tell him with a big grin, and his eyes go wide with surprise.

"Ashton!" he says in a scratchy voice.

"Hi."

"How have you been?" he asks seriously, his eyebrows furrowing. "Is...jail scary?"

His question makes my lips curl into a frown, but I quickly cover it up. "Not too shabby," I lie.

"You look sad," Lauren interrupts, making me speechless.

What is she saying? I wonder. I'm wearing a smile. I certainly don't feel sad.

"You said that out loud," Harry points out.

"You look sad today, that's all," Lauren says, shrugging.

Am I?

Today's been absolutely chaotic. The after-effects of court is still haunting me, and so is the smug look on Michael's face when he'd closed the door in my face a half hour ago. And on top of that, Azalea had chosen Michael over me.

I did everything for her. I was a great friend, even supported her through the occasional times that she got upset. But what has Azalea done except betray me?
