Okay thank you for being patient with me, this book is officially back, yo! Will be updating it most weeks, and it will be on Mondays as usual. I'm struggling with time management, especially on Wattpad when there's so much stuff going on outside the cyber world :(
For those of you who are too lazy to read the last chapter again, we left off at the park where Calum and Azalea were talking about Michael.
...[Azalea's POV]
I look up from my phone at Calum. A bone-chilling gust of wind blows towards us and I pull my scarf tighter around my neck. Post-Christmas is a depressing, cold time. I have a theory that everything horrible happens during this particular month of December, after everyone starts to settle in, the buzz of the holidays wearing off and and realizing that they're returning to work and school, bleak skies and cold weather. Which reminds me that I can't wait to get out of this place, to go somewhere warmer and less threatening. Aka my car.
I turn off my phone and stand up from the bench. "I'll get going now. I need to talk to Ashton," I tell Cal, putting my hands in my pockets. "Luke's promposal is in an hour..."
"Wait. Wait," Calum blurts nervously, getting up from the bench. He grabs my wrist and spins me around. "Sit down. There's one more thing."
"...What?" I ask, reluctantly taking my seat.
Calum's dark brown hair sweeps over his forehead and he pushes it back in annoyance, blowing his cheeks out. "Prom is coming, Azalea...." he says slowly, nervously, making me raise a brow. "And...and I want to go with Michael."
"...Then do," I say blandly, taken aback at the random statement.
"You know we can't. He refused to go with me, or to go at all if we have to go together. But I want to be there, and I want him to be with me." Calum looks down at his hands. A short silence lingers.
"So what do you need me to do?" I interrupt.
Calum swallows, smiling sheepishly at me then back at his hands.
"Spit it out, Hood," I say impatiently.
"Be Michael's date," he replies. "Please! Just for the sake of the public. Once we get inside, you and Michael will separate and I'll find him somewhere in the crowd, once everyone's distracted. Then I'll get to hang out with him somewhere. It will only take a few minutes," he says in one big rush.
Meanwhile, I'm having a hard time refraining from punching him. "...Jesus Christ, Calum."
"I know, I know, but please! It's prom," he says desperately, grabbing my hands.
"Calum." Outraged by the request, I find it hard to get my words out. "Let me get this straight. You're asking me to go to prom... with your boyfriend?"
"Uh." He bites his lip. "Yeah, I kind of...am?"
I blow out my cheeks in anger.
"Please," Calum begs, opening his eyes wide. "Please? It's our last dance of high school. And I've never got to go to a proper dance with him."
I look up and meet the older boy's eyes by accident, making me curse under my breath. He's made his face soft and his eyes round, trying to charm me. And he knows it's working.
