Eren's POV*
My eyes shot open and i sat up in bed. I looked around, seeing my family talking quietly. I blinked and rubbed my eyes. Mikasa looked at me with her usual blank expression.
"Eren, why are you crying?"
My mom looked over with worry plastered on her face.
"Eren, are you alright? Are you hurt in any way?"
She scanned my body for any signs of injury.
"Mom stop. I'm okay. I just had a bad dream". Damn, why did i say that? Her face softened, but her worried expression stayed.
"Why are you having bad dreams? What are they about?"
I rolled my eyes, "nothing mom!"
I shook out of her grasp and walked out the front door. I walked for a bit and then sat under a tree. My dream has been haunting me for weeks. I had a feeling that something bad was gonna happen. That everything good was going to be taken away from me. Mikasa ran up to me.
"Eren, are you okay?"
I groaned, "why does everyone ask me that?!"
She looked at the ground as if she was wounded by my words.
"Well.....you ran out... So i got worried and-"
I cut her off, "stop worrying about me". I layed down in the soft grass and she sat down next to me. I closed my eyes.
Images of fire and death flashed before my eyes. Images of titans flooded my once peaceful thoughts. I gasped and opened my eyes, feeling warm salty tears gathering. I sat up and wiped my eyes with my sleeve, hoping mikasa wouldn't see.
"Eren. You're crying" .
I continued to wipe my eyes, "no I'm not"
"Eren-"
"Mikasa stop! It's none of your business!"
She stood up without a word and looked around.
"We should go home. Lunch will be ready soon".
I got up and pushed past mikasa, earning a shove from her.
We walked in unbearable silence.
"I'm going to join the scout regiment".
Mikasa stopped in her tracks with wide eyes.
"Eren you cant! You'll die.....Eren-"
"Mikasa! I am not going to stand here and allow you to tell me what i can and cannot do!"
She grabbed me and threw me against a wall.
"Stop thinking about it. It's a stupid idea"
She began walking away and i got up, running to catch up with her. We were about halfway home when the bells started ringing.
"The scouts are back! Hurry Mikasa! Let's watch the heros return!"
I grabbed her arm and pulled her towards the street they were coming down. I stood up on a box so i could see over the crowd. I had a huge smile on my face as my eyes darted from face to face.
"Mikasa look. It's corporal Levi!"
He glacned at me when he heard my words and his slanted grey eyes met my wide teal eyes. He made a 'tch' sound and looked away. My smile faded as i looked at all the wounded soldiers. I scanned their faces and looked at the dead bodies in the wagon. Did the titans really do all this?
As we walked home, Mikasa spoke.
"Have you changed your mind about the scouts?"
I looked at her angrily, "what?! No! I won't change my mind! I will join them whether you like it or not!"

We were sitting at the table after lunch while mom washed the dishes and dad prepared to leave for a trip for a patient. Mikasa was looking down at the table.
"Eren wants to join the scout regiment".
My mom spun around to look at me.
"Way to keep a secret mikasa!"
My mom grabbed my shoulders.
"Eren! You get that ridiculous thought out of your head. No son of mine is going to be fodder. Do i make myself absolutely clear?"
"Stop yelling at me!"
"Don't you dare-"
My dad cut in, "it's a nightmare Eren. The outside. You have no idea".
I scowled at ny father.
"Yeah i get it, okay? But it's gotta be better than this life. I'm not stupid. I know how it is out there. But i can't just give up on it. Cause otherwise this nightmare is never gonna end!"
My father looked at me for a few seconds.
"I see....." he got up from the table. "Excuse me. I'll be late for the fair".
My mother tried to stop him.
"Darling. Scold the boy for heaven's sake".
"Scold him? My dear, think this through. Mere words won't hold back his curiosity. Eren. You behave while I'm gone and I'll show you what's in the basement".
He pulled out a key.
"Agreed?"
I smiled, "yes sir".

My father walked down the hill and i called after him, "have a good trip!"
My mother turned towards me.
"I meant what i said".
"Huh?"
"The whole idea is just irresponsible".
"Irresponsible? It's irresponsible to be more grown up instead of living in fear behind a wall your whole life?!"
I ran away from her, ignoring her calls.

I came across those ass holes beating armin up again. Right before one of them swung, i yelled at them.
"Back off!"
They looked at me and laughed a bit before they ran.
"That's all it takes. They ran as soon as they saw me".
Armin was on the ground.
"Actually, they ran when they saw mikasa".
He stumbled. I reached out to help him up, but he refused my help and stood up on his own.

We sat on some stone steps talking about what was beyond the walls, when we heard a loud explosion.
I looked around and saw people running towards the wall, yelling things like "what the hell was that?" and "did something fall?". Mikasa, Armin, and I ran towards the wall. They froze and began looking at something.
"Hey guys what's wrong? What was that noise?"
I looked up and my eyes locked on to a large hand gripping the top of the wall.
That's impossible. The wall is 50 meters high.
I saw the giant, skinless head of a titan rise to look over the wall. A thick cloud of steam was surrounding the body.
It's....... A titan!
*A/N* sorry this took me so long to upload. I've been trying all day to finish this. I've had an extremely busy day. But hey, 1,071 words. Not bad, huh?
