Armin's POV
I was snapped out of whatever trance i was in by Connie shaking me and yelling at me to get a hold of myself. He asked me where my squad was and i looked at him completely clueless.
"Huh? My squad?"
"Ugh what's all over you that's slimy? What happened?"
My eyes widened as everything played back in my mind. I screamed and tangled my fingers in my hair.
"Your worthless! Why don't you just die already?!"
Connie tried to calm me down, but Ymir cut in and said that I was the only one left, which caused an argument between the two.
"Whatever. C'mon Armin. Can you stand?"
He extended a hand out towards me and i ignored it, getting up myself.
"Sorry to be a nuisance. Don't worry about me. I'll rendezvous with the rear guard".
He tried to protest, but i had already jumped from the roof and activated my gear, flying away. I zoned out and thought about Eren, and soon hit a wall. I fell to the ground and put my face in my hands.
I'm worthless.... Why didn't i do anything to save him?
I heard small grunts and i looked up at Hanna desperately trying to resuscitate Franz.
"Hanna?"
She looked up at me,
"Armin help! Franz stopped breathing and i can't wake him up! He won't respond to CPR! Come on Franz you got this...... SOMEBODY HELP US!!"
"Hanna please it's not safe on the ground. We need to get to a roof-"
"No i won't leave Franz!"
"You really don't understand do you? Hanna I'm sorry.... Franz is..."
I couldn't even tell her that her boyfriend had died... Even though he was bitten in half, she refused to believe that he was gone.
I rested my face in my hand,
"Please stop this.."

I don't really remember how i ended up on a roof with Jean's squad and Reiner's squad...... I just remember sasha telling me it was time to go. I ignored her and curled up into my mind, replaying every single terrifying death that i watched, And listened to the echo of screams in my ears. I squeezed my eyes shut, but they snapped open when Mikasa called my name.
Oh god Mikasa.... How can i face you?
"Armin are you okay? You're not hurt, are you?"
I didn't answer. I just looked down at my feet.
"Where's Eren?"
Tears rolled down my cheeks as i tried to contian my emotions.
"Armin?"
I looked up at her and choked back a sob.
"They were..... The cadets of squad 34. Thomas Wagner, Nac Tias, Millius Zerumski, Mina Carolina, Eren Yeager. These 5 upheld their duties and died valiantly in the field of battle".
Mikasa stayed silent as her eyes became dull and emotionless.
"I'm sorry.... I should've died with him. I couldn't do a thing. I'm worthless".
Mikasa dropped to her knees and grabbed my hand.
"Armin. Calm yourself. We don't have time for you to get emotional right now. On your feet".
My eyes widened and she stood up, talking to Marco.
Mikasa's POV
"Marco. If we eliminate and bypass the titans at HQ, we can there refuel our gear, allowing us to get over the wall. Is that assessment correct?"
"Yeah i guess so... but.. There's just too many of them. Even with you on point".
"I can do it. I'm strong. Stronger than all of you. You hear me? I am a warrior. Know this. I have the power to slay all the titans that block our path... Even if i have to do it alone. As far as i know, i am surrounded by a bunch of unskilled cowardly worms. You disappoint me. You can just sit here and twiddle your thumbs and watch how it's done".
"What?! How can you beat them alone?!"
"If i lose i die. But if i win i live. And the only way to win is to fight".
I jumped from the roof and flew forward, leaving a thick trail of gas behind me. Everyone soon followed behind me. I took out 4 titans before i ran out of gas and i fell from the sky, hitting a roof and falling to the ground. Armin called after me, but i couldn't see him. I didn't know where i was.
I looked up at the sky and held my blade up. It happened again. I've lost my family. Why this again? Wasn't the first time enough?
I sank to my knees and looked at the ground.
There's nothing left for them to take from me.
I heard the loud footsteps of a titan closing in on me, but i remained still.
It was a good life....
The titan reached for me and something inside of me made me swing my blades at it. I sliced some of its fingers off and jumped away from it.
What am i doing?
It swung at me and knocked me into a wall.
Why?
It hit the ground in front of me and i flew forward, hitting the ground and rolling.
I'd already given up..... So why am i struggling? Why do i keep getting up? What keeps pushing me?
The titan towered above me and i backed up slightly before turning around and seeing another 15 meter blocking me. I got flashbacks of Eren. He always told me to fight and win. I saw all of our good times together and a tear rolled down my cheek.
I'm sorry Eren. I'll never give up again. I'll do whatever it takes to win whatever it takes to live!
I let out a scream and held my blade up, ready to attack, but the 15 meter titan behind me came forward and punched the other titan. The impact threw me in the air and i hit the ground with a thud.
What was that?
My eyes grew wide as i looked up at the 15 meter titan in awe. It showed no interest in me. It let out a bone chilling roar and walked forward towards the other titan, stomping on the nape of ots neck multiple times.
A titan.....kiling another titan....what is this?
I couldn't take my eyes away from the sight until i felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist and my feet left the ground. I landed on a roof and i looked at the face of Armin.
"Mikasa are you okay?"
Connie joined us on the roof,
"Are you both alright?"
Armin nodded and Connie said we needed to get out of there.
"Shit. Two 15 meter titans"
"No. That one's different".
They looked confused as they kept watching. The two titans roared at each other and the titan from earlier held up his fists. We all gasped and watched as it punched the other titan, causing its head to fly off. It then stomped on the nape of the neck.
It knew the weak spot.
Armin and I switched tanks and Connie carried Armin. I looked back at the 'abnormal' titan as it stood over the body of another titan. It let out another roar.
This titan is the very definition of humanity's rage.
I then formulated a plan to use this titan. I told Armin and Connie that we had to kill all the titans around us, causing the abnormal to look for more titans to fight. That would lead it to HQ. It could take out those titans for us. We soon agreed and took out the titans in our area. And just as i thought, the abnormal made its way to HQ.

We crashed through a window at HQ and sighed. We barely made it with the gas we had.
We had to come up with another plan to kill the titans that flooded the depot downstairs. We got our hands on some rifles that belonged to the military police and thought of a genius plan. Everyone would be lowered down into the depot to distract the titans while the elites of the group hid above. The larger group would wait for the titans to gather around them, and then they would fire the guns, blinding the titans. And the elites would come down and kill the titans.

The plan went smooth until Sasha and Connie missed their titans. The two 4 meters turned and one went to grab Sasha, but Annie and I came forward and struck the titans' napes.
All the titans were dead and we could finally refuel.

As we were leaving HQ, i saw the abnormal being devoured by several other titans. Armin came up behind me,
"Mikasa we have to go!"
"Look".
His eyes shifted to the scene unfolding in front of us,
"Cannibalism?"
"This may sound weird, but i was hoping he'd be our ticket to survival".
Reiner spoke up,
"She's right. He's too valuable to just let die. There's a lot we could learn from him".
Jean was against the idea. He just wanted to leave and be done with the mission. The titan that ate Thomas appeared and the abnormal went crazy. It ran towards the titan and its arms were ripped off. It sank its teeth into the titan's neck and threw it into a building. It let out a roar and collapsed.
Jean spoke and started walking away,
"Alright. Enough of this. Let's leave while we can".
We all stayed frozen with our eyes locked onto the abnormal's nape. I saw a person emerge from inside the titan....... Eren
I jumped off the roof and began running towards the titan. I was breathing heavy and i took Eren into my arms. I couldn't believe it.... I put my ear to his chest and heard a steady heartbeat. Tears formed in my eyes as i held him close. I let out a sob and really cried for the first time in a long time.
Eren is alive..... I still have some family left.
