As the weeks passed the boys were ecstatic; living together, being together, being in love. All of that shattered with a knock. Louis and Harry cuddled on the couch, Harry running his hands through Louis hair, while the two watched ‘Love Actually’ for their six month anniversary.  Louis was curled up in the younger boys lap, their legs intertwined. Knock. Knock. Knock.

Both of the boys turned to stare confused at the door, before Harry lifted Louis out of his lap and onto the couch beside him. He stood up and stretched, a little cramped from sitting for so long.

Knock. Knock.

“I’m coming! Yeah? Twat,” Harry snapped at the door, muttering the last word to himself. His usually happy face, and attitude gone, anger taking it’s place. He was trying to spend the day with his boyfriend, alone. He grabbed the door and pulled it open violently, slamming it against the wall.

“What do you-” He stopped, anything he was going to say no longer mattered, he couldn’t say anything. Simon Cowell stood at the door, a glare on his face, the fury Harry felt not only mirrored but multiplied, visible on Simon’s face.

“I’m going to guess that Mr. Tomlinson is here too, considering this is supposed to be HIS flat,” Simon’s voice was strained and Harry had no doubt in his mind that pushing Simon any farther with a cheeky remark was not the choice to make. Louis stood and walked over behind his boyfriend, not understanding what had made him so upset, so quickly.

“Simon, is there a problem?” Louis, was still trying to assess the situation and it’s severity, when Simon pushed his way passed both of the boys into the flat, and to the couch which had been just momentarily before, occupied by the boys.

“It has come to my attention that you two are in a relationship,” He spit the final word out as if it were difficult for him to say it, and both of the boys flinched, still standing at the door. Harry closed it softly, then walked to the extra seat next to the couch and sat.

“Well um-” Louis began to explain the situation when Simon waved him off.

“Don’t speak, Tomlinson. It’s my turn. This is not acceptable or allowed, you two should know that. Do you realize how much this may hurt your careers? That is why we have this rule. No inter-band relationships. Period.” As the words left Simons mouth Louis felt himself stop breathing.

“But- Simon!” Harry began but he was cut off, again.

“No buts. This is final. We can’t make it public, but you two can continue this on the grounds that you publicly deny it, not make it public, and make sure it isn’t noticeable. If you can’t follow those guidelines, me and the rest of management may have to take larger steps.” Simon was one of those people who never showed emotion, the boys always figured he was just good at hiding it but now Harry realized it was because Simon didn’t feel emotion, at all. Louis could feel all of his happiness from the relationship with Harry slip out of him, slowly, like water dripping down until it was gone. His smile from being curled up with Harry disappeared and he felt like crying. Harry was still staring at his boyfriend, as he could never drag his eyes away from the beauty he was able to call his boyfriend and he saw the tears slip down Louis face. Seeing those tears triggered the violent part of Harry, the protective part.

“What the hell do you mean ‘private’? Why can’t we be happy? Why can’t it be public! You can’t control us, and you won’t! I won’t let you hurt him! Ever! You’re not allowed to do this!” He was yelling and getting up in Simons face, all of his emotions usually happy or loving now all focused on protecting, and attacking.

“You have no choice. You signed a contract. This was in it,” Simon seemed unfazed by the boy in his face, screaming and threatening him. Those words wormed their way into Harry’s bravado and broke it into pieces, his anger dissipating in seconds just like the way it had appeared.
