Prologue

I remember the day better than any other. It was rainy and I was in the basement of my mechanic shop. The place was as usual. Large, and cold. Tables and tables of tools surround me as I looked over my examination table. That was the day I was going to find out if my three years of hard work would pay off. "Okay, Wrench. This is it. No sudden movements" I said to my dog who sat under my office chair. He just gave me a dull look as if nothing were important unless meat was involved. I took a deep breath and slid my goggles onto my eyes. Carefully I hooked wires to her chest and made sure that everything was attached. "Were all set. Come on. Please work" I begged. I said a quick prayer then rested my hand on the cold, electrical switched. In my head I counted down. 3...2...I. I pulled the switched down. Sparks flew from her and she started to creak. Then everything stopped. I cursed and pounded my first on the table. I looked at her any sighed. "No. I've come to far to fail." I rested my hand on the switch again and said a better prayer. Come on, I though. Work. Please work. I pulled down the switch and more sparks flew. The sound of gears turning made my heart leap. This time though, it didn't stop. I lift my goggles up and smiled down at her as she opened her rustic colored eyes. "Hi. I'm Rad" I smiled. "And this is Wrench and your name is Nia."
