Chapter 1

"Come on little lady. Give me the bags" the no good scum Iran Jay teased. Nia just kept her head down and walked down the ally. "I said give me the bags" Iran snapped.

Him as his posy followed Nia ever since she left the grocery store.

Just keep walking, she thought. Iran threw himself in front of Nia and sighed.

"Look little lady, me and my middle rank fellas don't want to hurt you lower rank girl. And I'm out of pocket money so give us the food and you can go back to your pathetic life." Nia tried to move, but Iran just kept blocking her. "Fine. Have it your way" Iran put his hand out to grab the food, but Nia punched him in the jaw sending him backwards. He fell into a garbage can and growled.

"That's it! No one punches Iran Jay and gets away with it. I don't care if your a girl, your going down!" He shot up and ran towards Nia.

Nia stepped aside blocking his punch. Every punch Iran threw at her she blocked with no sweat. Still holding the grocery bags she sighed and waited for this circus act to end. "Fellas! Help me" Iran cursed.

Two of Iran's friends grabbed Nia by the arms and held her still. Iran stood in front of Nia and smiled evilly. He clenched his fist and threw it straight at her eye. As soon as it hit her skin a loud crack echoed the ally. The sound followed with a metal clunk.

Iran screamed and grabbed his hand. "What are you?" he cried.

Nia pulled more of her hair over her eyes and walked away from the boys.

Rad is going to kill me, she thought.

Quickly she headed down Cole Streets ally where my mechanic shop sat being hidden by the rusty towers of skyscrapers. The air in the lower rank city's is dirty, polluted, and grey. Much like the city, it's nothing you would want to visit.

Nia walked through the front door of my shop, headed down the stairs behind the counter and sat the grocery bags on the kitchen counter of the basement.

The basement is pretty much where we live. It is a huge, open room with no windows and only small light bulbs, lamps and dozen of little lights from my gadgets to light the room.

To your right of the entry way is a old stove, refrigerator, microwave and cabinets. That's our kitchen. Nothing fancy.

In the far right corner of the room is our old, run-down television set with a beat up couch in front of it. An old lamp sat beside the couch and a dusty yarn rug covers the floor. The back wall of the basement is mostly covered my long tables of endless tools, papers, pencils, gizmos and pizza boxes. I love my pizza.

On the other opposite wall sat two bunk beds in the corner. The first bed was mine. It was unmade, dirty and also covered with tools. A crinkled shirt was hooked to the end of the bed and a pair of old lace up boots sat at the foot of it. The next bed was opposite of mine. It was made, clean and only had a stuff bunny with the right ear partly chewed off on it. The only different thing was a big machine with a power cord coming out of it was built into the wall. Nia owned that bed.

If you look past my bed you would find a wooden door. That's the bathroom. Again, nothing fancy. That is pretty much what Nia and I call home.

Nia put the food away then headed upstairs to the garage. As she stepped down the stairs into the stores garage, Wrench barked and wagged his tail to welcome her.

"Nia, is that you?" I called out from under an old truck that was parked in there.

"Yep" she squeaked.
