Chapter 11

Margret walked down the marble hallway towards the door covered with danger stickers. She paused then looked around to make sure the coast was clear. Then she would motion Jet and Nia.

Margret pushed open the doors, stopping Nia and Jet. Then she once again motioned them to follow. The doors lead into a long hallway lined with multiple doors.

Margret turned to Nia and Jet then said, "there's a counter down the hallway where my friend works at. I can go and get the files about Rad. Then we can at least see what The Boss is doing to him. Now you guys hide here, till I get back, okay?" Nia and Jet nodded as Margret walked away.

The two of them hid behind a stack of yellow barrels, watching few guards pass by. Nia started to chew in her thumb when she said, "I'm scared, Jet. What are they doing to Rad? Is he going to be okay?" Jet put his hand on her shoulder and said, "I promise you, Rad is going to be okay. He's a tough kid. From when we had our first car chase to this, he's been head strong."

Nia nodded as Margret headed back with a folder in her hands. She bent down beside Bia and Jet then opened the file and skimmed through it then gave a deep frown. "Oh no. He's getting it pretty bad." Jet cursed and said, "please, Margret. Tell us what the Upgrade is!"

Before she could even speak The Boss came out of the third door down with another secretary lady following behind him. "Sir! We got a report that the prisoner, Jet Jay and Nia have escaped!" The Boss cursed and said, "get all the guards on this floor. They'll be coming after Rad. But they don't know he's a different man now."

The Boss fled out of the room, causing Jet, Nia and Margret to jump and and run down the hallway into the room The Boss came out of. The room was fairly large. It had metal walls and tables covered with scary looking tools. In the back was a dark curtain where all of them assumed I was at.

Jet let Wrench out of his back pack and watched him run behind the curtain then bark. Jet and Nia took a step forward when Margret put her hands on their shoulders to stop them. They turned around when Margret said, "Don't freak out, okay? He might be alright. And don't scare him ether. You should just pretend you didn't notice anything different."

Nia and Jet gulped as they turned back and press forward. Slowly, Jet pulled back the curtain, seeing one of those hospital beds sit in the corner surrounded by more table of scary and strange tools. Nia and Jet stepped forward taking a glance at my unconscious body.

Nia smiled and put her arm out to wake me up when she froze in fear. She threw her arms over her mouth holding in a scream of terror. Jet stepped over my body then gave a horrified look to everyone. "This man is a sick, sick freak! He actually does this to people!" Margret nodded her head in shame. "He did it to me after all."

Jet gave her a terrified look then turned back to me. "Okay. Just stay cool, Jet. Just be cool." He touched my arm, slowly shaking me. "Rad" he said with a shaky voice. "Rad."

I groaned and moved my fingers as Jet shook me a little more. "Rad. Hey, bro. Rad." Wrench barked then hopped up on the bed and licked my face. I twitched my nose as I moaned, "Wrench. I'll feed you later."

Jet sighed and shook me harder. "Rad. Hey, buddy. Come on. Wake up." I muttered something and opened my eyes, or in this case, my eye. Jet and Nia gulped as Wrench wagged his tail and licked my face again.

I groaned and sat up, touching my head saying, "ugh. What happened." I looked down at Wrench and rubbed his head when my entire vision cleared. A moment of silence passed before I frowned and said, "why are guys half red?"

Nia choked back oily tears as Jet picked up a hand mirror and handed it to me. "Don't freak out, buddy." I cocked my eyebrow and held up the mirror, glancing at my face.

Suddenly, my heart stopped as I dropped the mirror in fear. With my shaky hand I touched what use to be my eye. All of my right eye plus some skull was completely gone and replaced with some crazy cyborg thing. It's kinda hard to describe it.

A small glass circle was where my eye use to be. It glowed red and metal plates surround it. The crazy cyborg thing stopped just a little above my cheek and went all the way to to my forehead and then to my ear. So to make it even better, my right ear was gone too! I now have a metal ear like Nia's.

I fell off the bed and clawed at my new eye trying to pull it off. "My eye! Wheres my eye!" I followed the metal plates all the way behind my head screaming in horror. How would you feel if after your skull plus eye got sucked out and replace with a a cyborg thing.

I couldn't stop panicking. It felt like my head was spinning around. It felt like part of me (literally) was missing. I could feel wires running through my eye then up my skull to my brain. It was kinda creepy actually.

My heart raced as I tried to wake myself from this nightmare. I couldn't think straight until Nia threw herself at me. She hugged my head saying, "Rad, listen to me. Your going to be fine, okay? Your going to be alright. Just stop panicking and listen to me."

I stopped my screaming as Nia lifted my head up. I looked at her with my crazy cyborg eye, trying to focus it on her face. Her eyes were full of hope when she said, "your going to be okay. We have to get out of here first. Can you do that?" I gulped and nodded my head.

She smiled and helped me stand up when Jet turned to Margret and said, "wait? So the Upgrade is when you get your eye gouged out? But I thought you got the Upgrade."

Margret shook her head saying, "no. The Upgrade is when The Boss performs surgery on someone, removing a limp or something then replacing it with parts of his broken cyborgs. It's pretty whack. Sometimes he doesn't even knock out the person. He did that with me. And the scary thing is he enjoys giving people Upgrades."

"Where did you get Upgraded, if I can ask?" Jet questioned. Margret pulled down her black staking on her right leg revealing silver metal plates. "He took my leg." Jet sighed and said, "I'm sorry. He's a nut job who shouldn't be left to rule."

Margret pulled her staking back up and said, "I know. Nobody dares to stand up though, since people have seen what he can do."

Suddenly, loud shouting came from outside. "You guys have to go! I'm afraid I can't help you beyond this point or else..." Margaret's voice faded away. Jet smiled and said, "we understand. You've done enough for us. Thank you." Margret smiled as we raced out from behind the curtain. "Good luck!"

We ran out of the room when a Jet said, "we should get into the air shafts then crawl our way out of here." I was still kinda dazed about what just happened. Then I shook myself away from my thoughts and helped Nia and Wrench climbed into the vent.

"You go next, man" Jet said lifting my foot up. I crawled into the vent then helped Jet up just as guards bursted into the room.

We watched as a flood of guards scanned around when I whispered, "lets go." Jet, Wrench and Nia nodded and began to crawl away with me.

We made our way to a vent that led to the roof of The Supreme Rank building where we climbed out to find a starry sky. We flopped down and sighed from exhaustion when Nia said, "are you alright, Rad? You still look pretty frightened."

I just looked at the starry sky through my one good eye and my red eye. Finally I took a deep breath and said, "I'm fine. But does this thing come with an instruction guide or something? I'm not quiet sure how I work this thing. Does it shoot lasers or can it be used as an x-Ray?"

Nia and Jet smiled that their best friend was okay. "So what do we do now?" Jet asked. I shrugged. "Right now, I just wanna lay here."

Jet and Nia nodded and we began to lay there in silence, unaware of our future and where it might lead to next.
