Chapter 14

I stared at the fire as Jet took a minute to absorb the bad news. Finally he sighed and said, "alright. Lets gear up go." Joe walked over to us saying, "is there anything we can do?"

I paused and nodded. "You don't have to do this if you want to, but I've got a pretty crazy plan." I stood up and looked at everyone saying, "we're going to overthrow The Boss and take over the Supreme Rank."

Everyone looked at me as if I were mad. "What!" Jet gasped. I didn't reply when Joe said, "how could that be possible?"

I looked at him with a stern face and said, "it might not be, it might be, we have to try to find out." No body said anything.

Finally Susie jumped and and said, "I'm in." Joe gabbed his daughters hand and said, "no you aren't. Your staying here." He looked up at me and said, "I'm in though."

I smiled and more people joined Joe. "Alright then. We need a plan. A good date to strike." A man held up a piece of paper and said, "how about this? The Supreme Rank is having a party for all VIPs. It says The Boss is going to reveal something important."

My expression turned grim as I said, "Nia." Jet sat down and said, "I've had many experiences crashing parties, so this should be a piece of cake." He chuckled and said, "party humor."

Joe looked at me and said, "that will be a good time to attack. They'll be so busy with the party they won't see us coming." I nodded and said, "we need to reveal to the whole country what The Boss really does and how cruel he is. That will be a good start."

Everyone murmured to each other when the nice lady, Poppy said, "how do we do that?" I stood up and folded my arms. "Easy. You guys get to the broadcast center where all the televisions and radios are connected to. Jet and I will get into the party and somehow get The Boss to reveal what he does. We'll record it or just tap into the security camera feed. Then as soon as we got the proof we need, Jet will send it to you guys while I go get Nia."

Jet touched my shoulder and said, "you not going alone." I shot him a warning look when Joe said, "I'll come with you then send the feed." I shook my head. "You need to lead the rest of them to safety when we're finished. Then as soon as I get a hold of Nia we'll make our way to the gate tower and open the gates where you guys will escape with the cargo trucks."

Everyone go this pleasant look on their face, knowing there was a glimmer of hope to escape. "I'll make sure the High Rank gates get opened too. You'll have to move fast because I can only keep them open for twenty four hours if I hack into the system. So I can afford to lose you guys precious time." Joe looked like he was going to argue, but he didn't.

"The party is at the end of the week" the man said looking at the flyer. I nodded my head. "Good. That gives up time to prepare and review the plan." I looked at the Haywires and said, "get me all the information you got on the Supreme Rank building. I need blueprints, maps, guards schedules, everything. I also need all the tools and scraps you got. If you have any weapons that's a bonus. I don't care if they don't work, I need them. I can fix them up. Get as much supplies you can and do not let anyone catch you!"

Everyone nodded and scrambled off gathering supplies. I sat back down when Jet said, "so what about us? How are we going to escape?" I sighed and squeezed my fist. "I don't know. We can escape the Supreme Rank, but not the Higher Rank. We'll be stuck there until we can get through the gates."

Jet cursed and said, "if we can save everyone else and Nia then it's worth it." I nodded. These people have suffered too long. It was time they experienced freedom.

Hours passed before piles of tools and scraps started to build up. I worked all day and night fixing weapons, building helpful tools that will come in handy. I rarely got sleep and didn't bother to eat. All I thought if was saving Nia and building.

Days passed as each if us got more in depth with our plan. Soon, we we're ready to go. We got back packs full of supples and knew our plan from front to back.

I stood in the back of a van chasing my close for the party when Jet knocked on the doors and said, "can I come in?"

"Yeah" I said pulling a shirt over my head. He opened the doors, wearing a tuxedo. He looked at me and smiled. "You look ready to rule the country my friend."

I picked up the new trench coat Joe and Susie got me. It was long and grey leather that touched my ankles. Multiple pockets were stitched to the front and in the side too.

I button up all the side straps next to the collar and wrapped a dark scarf around the lower part of my face. Jet handed me a dark hat as I said, "I hope Nia's alright." Jet nodded and I sat the hat over my dirty blonde hair. "Me too."

I finally sat sunglasses on my nose, hiding me eyes. "Ready to dominate" Jet grinned. I looked out the van seeing the sky turned orange. The Supreme Ranks wall fasted a larger shadow, hiding us all in cold darkness. Tonight I would take over the country. Lots of pressure.

I sighed and looked at Jet and said, "I'm ready. After all, I am The Mastermind."
