The sun came up in the morning and I woke up. There was a small clock on the wall. I looked up at it to check the time. 6:30. Half an hour till breakfast. I'll give Eren part of my ration, he did defend me against Shardez, he deserves something. I stand up and try to remember where I am. Once I remember, I open the closet and pull out my new uniform jacket. I smile as I trace my fingers over the wings on the back and feel the fabric. In some aspects, this felt like better material than the training corps uniform.
"Damn, the captain sure makes us get up early. My neck aches and I could use a couple more hours of sleep." I hear a familiar voice say. I step out of my door as the foot steps get closer. I see who it is and my face drops into a sulk. "Oh, hi (y/n)."
"Jean?! I thought you were joining the MPs!" I shout.
"I was, then Eren freaked out on me and threatened to come back and annoy me when I was in the interior."
"Yup! Sounds like Eren!" I laugh. "So, the scouts, Huh?" I say as I continue walking.
"Yeah... I really wish I wasn't here though. That twerp, Yeager, will always be in my way." Jean mumbled.
"Only if you get in his!" I say as I open the door to leave. Eren was standing over by the mess hall with a gloom look. "See ya Jean! I gotta go see Eren!" I wave as Jean headed the opposite way, waving behind him. "Yo." I say as I get to Eren.
"Hi..."
"What's wrong, Eren? You look gloom."
"Captain put me on stable duty today... Watch out. You might get worse if you're caught slacking off...or misbehaving..." Eren stuttered. Poor kid.
"I wont slack off, and if I am sent to clean, I'll do it and then come to help you! No matter what the captain does to me! He's just another stupid-"
"Tch, 'another stupid' what, Cadet?" A deep voice said behind me. I turned around to meet a familiar face. I gasped.
"I-its you! I-I know you! You're the man! The man Who saved me 5 years ago!" I said appalled.
"What the hell are you talking about? I don't know you. And if I did save you, you must have been unimportant."
"B-but, I've been waiting my whole life to meet you! And this is what I get for a hero? You're a joke!" I yelled. Eren was just standing there appalled. "How could someone like you become Captain of anything!"
"Tch. You're a kid. What do you know?" He scoffed.
"I know a hell of a lot more than you! I know how to respect people I just meet!" Tears started to fill up in my eyes.
"You only have to respect you higher authorities here. What is your name Cadet? So I can put you down for extra cleaning hours." He glared at me with a stoic expression.
"(y/f/n) (y/l/n)! -And .... I don't care what you do to me!"
"(y/n), huh? So thats who you are? Tch, find my office after training. I have to speak with you. Privately!" He said as he walked away in disgust.
"All right, Captain Shorty!" He flinched with anger and continued to walk away.
"God...you're brave! Not even I can face him like that... How do you do it?" Eren quavered.
"Well, I expected so much from him... And he turned around and crushed every hope and dream I had..." I said as I wiped away the tears in my eyes.
"Please don't cry... It makes me feel useless... Like I can't do anything to help." Eren wrapped his arms around me and started to calm me down. I hugged him back and stopped sobbing.
