I walk in to the mess hall and sit at my place next to Eren and Mikasa, with Armin sitting across from me.

"Dude! You look terrified! What did the captain do to you?" Eren said, more shocked than I was at the moment.

"Oh, he just gave me stable duty with you and Armin." I said, trying to hide what I was feeling.

"I think he gave you a little more than that! What's that around your neck?" Eren said frowning.

"Eren! That may be personal!" Armin said as I went to take a bite from my bread, since I gave Eren my soup and half of my water. I swallowed and sighed.

"I-it's nothing..." I said as a blush spread across my cheeks. "Here, I'm going to the bunks. I'll see you tomorrow at training. Bye Mikasa." I said as I tossed Eren the rest of the bread I had. Mikasa waved and Eren grumbled. Armin looked concerned. I walked out of the mess hall and into the dorms. The sky was getting dark and it started to rain. Perfect... I sat in my room with the curtains closed. I took off the locket that was around my neck and started to think about how kind my mother was.

Flashback

"Mama! Mama! Look what Eren, Mikasa, and I found!" I said as we ran up to my mother. I was surprisingly running faster than Mikasa and Eren. Usually I was much slower then them.

"(y/n)? Oh, are these your friends? They're so adorable!" My mom said as she pinched Eren's cheek. He grunted in discomfort and she pulled away. "What did you find?"

"Look, Mama!" I said as I handed her a smooth, clear, purple stone. "Isn't it pretty?!"

"It's beautiful!" My mother smiled and took the rock. She hung her laundry on the clothesline and sat down on the step as Eren, Mikasa, and I gathered around her and the stone. "You know what kind of stone this is?" My mother asked with a smile. Mikasa and I shook our heads.

"I know Mrs. (Y/l/n)! Its a-um... ameth- ameth-..."

"Oh Eren... Were you trying to say 'amethyst'?" My mother said as she smiled.

"Yeah..." He said as he blushed.

"Thats alright. You were close! Did you know that the amethyst is the birthstone for February?"

"I was born in February..." Mikasa squeaked (true story! Its in the Attack on Titan Guidebook by Hanjime Isayama. Mikasa's birthday is February 10th).

"That means you are an amethyst child, Mikasa. Amethyst symbols peace, protection, and tranquility."

"Yeah right!" Eren scoffed. "Mikasa is anything but peaceful!" Mikasa hit him in the arm and Eren frowned.

"Hey! That hurt, Mikasa!"

"Mama? What's your Birthstone?"

"Mine? Oh, I'm the aquamarine. That means I was born in March!" My mother gave us a kind smile.

"What does it mean?!" Eren inquired.

"It means that I am youthful, happy, and I am supposed to have beauty. Haha! I can't see it any more!" My mother laughed.

"But you are beautiful, Mama!" I said.

"Haha! Thank you, (y/n)!" My mother said as she gave all thee of us a big hug.

End

Mother. She was always busy, trying to balance raising me and trying to take care of the house. She didn't deserve to die. She was so young. She was only a little older than the captain (A/N: In this story, I might add, Levi is 21. I know that everyone says he's 38, but I didn't want to make it seem like he's a pedophile. So "your" mom was like 30). I put the locket back around my neck and started to get into my sleepwear. I pulled up my bottoms and buttoned up the shirt and sat back down on the bed. There was a knock on the door and I walked over to see who it was. I opened it to see a pair of greenish-grey eyes giving me an apologetic look.
