12. We watched the sunset (Ally said)

I woke up at the hospital a few hours after I lost consciousness. I found Stevie on my bedside sleeping. There were a bunch of flowers and balloons; and on the side table was the Pablympics cup. I smiled--our plan worked and Lauren made the shot.

"Hey there pretty, how long have you been up?" Stevie asked. She had just woken up.

"A few minutes," Ally said. "How soon can we leave the hospital?"

"Your mom and dad are speaking with your doctors to find out. How are you feeling?"

"Ecstatic because we ended the Hummingpuff drought!" I fist-pumped the air. She still had a worried expression.

"Allison..."

"And just happy because you are the person I woke up to."

"Ally please..."

"I am feeling much better though I still have a headache. But don't worry, I have been through worse."

"I am trying not to be mad about what you did there."

"It's for the team, Stevie."

"But we are also a team, Ally." She was holding back her tears. "Oh wait you forgot about that too."

I got up to a sitting position and invited her into my arms.

"It will not happen again. I promise."

"Do not promise anything. Just be careful next time."

"I will, Stevie."

We cuddled as we decided to finally watch Faking It.

"I could make a song about this!" I exclaimed.

"Being in love with a straight girl huh? I am sure it will be a hit," Stevie answered, being as supportive as ever.

After a few episodes and a handful of yawns, I convinced Stevie to go home and have a proper sleep.

"Will I see you tomorrow?"I asked

"Let me think about it." Stevie kissed my forehead and gave me a wink.

I had to stay at the hospital for at least three days to complete all necessary tests. They had to be sure that nothing was wrong.

"I probably collapsed because of fatigue," I told Dr. Torres when she visited me.

"Ally I know you were hit on the head then collapsed," she responded. "We need to check again for any neurological damage. We have been telling you that your body has not yet fully recovered from the crash."

"But is it true that another head trauma could undo my amnesia?"

"It is 100% true if you have Hollywood amnesia. Ha-ha. But it is usually the experience that triggers suppressed memories and not the actual 'bonk' on the head. So in your case, the sight of the ball hitting you may trigger it but not when the ball hit you."

"It makes more sense. We planned the decoy play during the game but when I saw the ball coming, I froze. I remembered the day of the accident when I could not do anything more."

"So are you telling me you got your memories back?"

"I think so."

"That's great news!"

"Please don't tell anyone yet. I will undergo through all the tests to be sure that I am fine."

"I wonder why you are very cooperative now. But you have my word."
