"Yes Mom? I am already on the plane. Of course I will not be late to my brother's wedding. Do I have a date? Yes I have. No she is not a he. She is not handsome. She's beautiful," the passenger beside me said. I could not help but overhear. "I have to go now, Mom. We are about to takeoff."
"Where in Minnesota can I find a hot date in an instant?" she asked to herself as she hung up.
"I am sorry was I loud?" she looked at my direction. "My Mom's bugging me. I just came out to them by sending Ally Hills' music video and she would not believe it--she said I am being influenced by my brother who is having this big, fat, gay wedding. I am planning on bringing a girl to stress the point. This is just who I am, you know--without the influence of anybody."
"It's okay. No worries," I responded and smiled.
"Hey you look very familiar. But I guess not. Okay I will zip my mouth now."
She decided to sleep, which was good for me.
When we arrived in Minnesota, she started blabbering again. "I think I could win the worst seatmate award, am I right? Let me make up to you by buying you a cup of coffee."
"I do not want to sound rude but I have to check my schedule."
"Oh. Okay..."
Stevie told me to make most of visiting the different states during my free time. I send her snaps where I draw stick figures for her to be on it.
I called Emily, my road manager who was already in town if she needed me early.
"When do you need me there, Em? I am thinking of of having a mini tour," I asked.
"Actually just show up at seven tonight. Go explore. Your car's waiting. Ask the chauffeur to drive you around," she answered.
"Thank you, Em." I hung up.
I approached the stranger who offered to buy me coffee.
"Uhmmm hi, I could use a quick fix of caffeine. Are you still up to it?" I inquired.
"Yeah! I don't want to go home yet. All of the extended family are already there. My name is Mandy and I am sorry if I talk too much."
"It's okay. I kind of living with one." I remembered Stevie and her endless banters that are music to my ears. I freaking miss my girlfriend. I had tried calling her but there was no answer.
"What did you say?"
"Nothing. I am Ally by the way." I extended my hand. "Where are we going?"
"Follow me. Let's take a cab."
"I have a car waiting outside."
"Ooh someone's a big shot."
"It has already been paid for anyway so let's use it."
When we entered the car, I took off the hoody and my sunglasses.
"Oh my freaking god! You are THE Ally Hills! I knew it! I will be watching your concert tonight with my brother and soon-to-be brother-in-law. We love all of your songs! Ooops here I go again with my talking."
"Thank you so much for the support. Can we have a deal?"
"Of course. Anything for you!"
"Can you give me a tour? I have time until the concert to roam around."
"What's in it for me?"
"Anything within my capabilities."
"Will you be my date to my brother's wedding in an hour?"
