"Lauren, c'mon let's go!" My brother yelled from the bottom of the steps.
"I'm coming, I'm fixing my hair." I yelled back.
Today was Saturday and also the day that we were going to adventure world with Josh and Nolan. It was time to go and I was freaking out. Even though Braylen and Katie gave me pep talks, when I told Katie about it she insisted she'd come too, I was still freaking out. I mean why would he agree to come if he didn't like me right?
"You guys picking up Katie on the way?" My mom asked sipping from her mug.
"Yeah, if Lauren ever comes downstairs." My brother yelled.
"Calm down. I'm right here." I said sticking my tongue at him.
"Let's go. I'm trying to beat the traffic." Lucas said walking towards the door.
"Alright. Have fun kids." My mom said pushing us out the door.
We walked to the car and got in. Lucas had a big car with a third row, so there'd be plenty of room for everyone.
"Okay let's do a list check before we go." Braylen said.
"Bathing suits?" Lucas asked.
"Check." We said in unison.
"Change of clothes? Lotion? Deodorant?"
"Check, check, and check. " We replied.
"Snacks for the road?"
"Check." Braylen said.
"First aid kit?" I asked.
"Check." Lucas responded.
"Money?"
"Check." Braylen said.
"Cellphones and chargers?" Bray asked.
"Yep." Luc said.
"Well then. I think we're good." I said bucking my seatbelt.
"Ok, let's go get Katie." Braylen said buckling her seatbelt as well.
"Ya know, she could've walked here." Lucas said starting to drive.
"Seatbelt!" I yelled.
"Already on." He said pulling on it.
"I didn't see you put it on!" I said rolling my eyes.
"It's okay. Safety first." He said laughing.
"C'mon let's just go get Katie and Josh." Braylen said.
"It's driving!" Luc said hitting her.

"This is exciting." Katie exclaimed.
"How?" I said looking at her out the corner of my eye.
"I get to be here for your first date!" She said smiling at me.
"It's not a date. It's a group outing." I said correcting her.
"Yeah, keep telling yourself that." Luc said mocking me.
I was in fact convincing myself that it wasn't a date. Not because I didn't want it to be a date, but more because I didn't want to think it was a date and have him think I wanted to be more than friends, even though I did want to be more than friends. It's complicated.
"I'm just calling it what it is." I said.

"Hey guys." Josh said as he got in the car.
"Oh don't be silly Josh you can sit here, I'll sit in the back." Katie said winking at me as she climbed to the back seat.
"Thanks, Katie." Josh said laughing.
"Where's Nolan?" Luc asked looking out the window.
"He'll be right down." Josh replied.
"Britt didn't want to come?" I asked looking at him.
"No, she said she wasn't up for it." He said.
"Sorry, I was getting my swim trunks out the dryer." Nolan said climbing in the back.
"It's cool bro. We ready to hit the road?" Luc said to all of us.
"Yeah." We all responded.
"Cool."
He started driving and we shortly got on the freeway. Adventure world was about 1 1/2 hours away, 2 if there was bad traffic. It was like the local spot. Everyone always went there, especially on Saturdays. It had everything. Lazer tag, go carts, mini golf, a trampoline park, an indoor pool, and an outdoor Waterpark, 7 small rides, an arcade, a ball pit, a basketball court, a bowling alley, a human sized hamster ball race, a paintball park, and about 10 carnival games. It was huge and had 3 floors. It was totally a family place, but it was also the place where high school kids hung out.
30 minutes later we all felt tired and slowly started drifting off. It was pretty early. It was 10:30 am. Katie and Nolan were sleep and so was Braylen. Josh and I were drifting off and then he whispered in my ear.
"Can I lay on your shoulder?" He asked looking at me through his barely opened eyes.
"Sure." I said fixing my shoulder in a position so that he could lay comfortably.
I caught my brothers eye in the rear view mirror.
"What?" I mouthed to him.
He said nothing back though. He just smiled at me and looked ahead at the road and kept driving.
