"Laurennn!" I woke up to my mothers screams yet again.
"I'm up mom." I yelled back.
It was the next Saturday and I was going to Katie's sleepover tonight. She had told me on Monday that she wanted to have one, but I didn't expect it to be so soon. Well anyway she invited a few girls, Britt, Chelsea, Melissa, Carly & Heather. And of course me. So that was it, it would just be us girls (and her parents). Carly and Heather are two girls that we've became close to over the past week, and honestly I've gotten pretty close with Carly. She's a really cool girl and we're really just alike, almost too alike. Well anyway her and I have gotten close. As for Josh, we haven't spoken since he left without saying goodbye. Luke swears Nolan hasn't said anything about it and Braylen is just as confused as I am. Katie thinks that I'm just a bad kisser and that's why he hasn't talked to me, but then again who listens to Katie and her radical ideas."Lauren, come down stairs" my dad yelled from the kitchen "and not in 20 minutes now"
"Okay I'm coming" I yelled back hoping he didn't hear the annoyance in my tone.
Ever since the whole Josh situation my parents, especially my mom, had been bugging me about what happens and why we didn't talk anymore. Well one day I think Tuesday it was my mom just would not quit asking me about him and so I just snapped on her because I was so sick and tired of hearing about him and thinking about him. So ever since then my mom hasn't really talked to me much and neither has my dad.
"Yes?" I said stepping into the kitchen.
"Come sit and eat" my dad said.
I walked over to the dining room and I instantly knew this wasn't just any breakfast. My mom had cooked a whole big breakfast, I'm talking waffles, muffins, bacon, sausage, eggs, home fries, grits, toast and she even made a fruit salad. The only time she cooked like this was when it was my birthday or when she wanted something and my birthday isn't until August so she had to want something.
"How are you feeling this morning?" My mom asked eating her food and smiling at me.
"I'm fine.." I said hesitantly.
"How was your week?" My dad interjected while sipping his coffee.
"It was fine.." I said again with hesitation.
"Well that's good." He said smiling.
After that nothing else was really said. I ate my food and so did they, I drank my juice and they drank their coffee. My dad read the paper and my mom read her knitting magazine. It was the absolute weirdest breakfast ever. At this point we're all done eating my dad collected our plates and glasses and took them to the sink. I was getting up to leave when my mother spoke.
" hey Laur" she said smiling.
I knew it was finally coming, this was it she was about to ask her favor."Yes?" I said almost too knowingly.
"Do you wanna go shopping with me?"
"When?"
"Today of course silly."
"Sure...what are we shopping for?"
"Well, I could use a few new curtains and some new outfits for work, and you know your father and I have that charity gala next weekend so I need a dress for that. And shoes of course."
"Oh okay, cool I'll go I guess."
"And.."
Yup here it comes, I knew it was a catch. Here it is people.
" yeah..?" I said eagerly.
" I was thinking you could get some new clothes too! And you could get a cute outfit for tonight and for Luke's party."
