Warm sunlight blanketed me with a weightless feeling. It felt like summer as Damon's soft-spoken, tuneful and poetic words filled the air that I slowly breathed in, then out.
"I seem to have loved you in numberless forms,
numberless times…
In life after life, age after age, forever.
My spellbound heart has made and remade the necklace of songs,
That you take as a gift,
wear around your neck in your many forms,
In life after life,
in age after age,
forever.
"Whenever I hear old chronicles of love, it's age-old pain,
It's ancient tale of being apart or together.
As I stare on and on into the past, in the end you emerge,
Clad in the light of a star piercing the darkness of time:
You become an image of what is remembered forever.
You and I have floated here
on the stream that brings hope
At the heart of time, love of one another.
"We have played alongside millions of lovers, shared in the same
Shy sweetness of meeting, the same distressful tears of farewell-
Old love, but in shapes that renew and renew forever.
"Today it is heaped at your feet, it has found its end in you.
The love of all man’s days both past and forever:
Universal joy, universal sorrow, universal life.
The memories of all loves merging with this one love of ours –
And the songs of every poet
past and forever."
"Beautiful." I said, It flowed out of my mouth before I even thought about it or had opened my eyes.
I opened them now, I was in that bed under the covers again, but this time I wasn't afraid. I rolled onto my side to see Damon sitting on the floor beside this huge bed leaning back against it, an old book with dingy yellow pages in his hands, a smile on his face that accented his green eyes looking up at me smiling down at him, his dark hair messy.
"Yes you are," He smirked then laughed when I rolled my eyes, "Good morning, do you feel okay?" He put the old book down and turned around, so he now sat facing me with his chin resting on his folded arms on the edge of the enormous bed his face inches from mine made the butterflies take flight again.
I nodded and sat up, a part of me wanting to be close to him but the other, more sensible part of me knowing that I needed to get to know him, or something...
Change of topic! I thought to myself.
"Why did I pass out, or whatever?" Was the first thing that came to mind.
He pushed himself up and I couldn't help but notice his strong arms showing in his black v- neck t-shirt. He offered me his hand with a understanding smile, all gentlemen-like. I pushed the blankets away and took his hand like a lady would have in and old book or movie. I even felt kind of graceful in my post-passing-out-and-probably-having-horrible-bed-headded-ness.
