Chapter41: A Little Help

*Cammie POV*

It's been three weeks since we last spoke to our parents. Papi didn't talk about it much and neither did I. But since we were living on our own now, we both had to buckle down. We had to get jobs. It wasn't hard to find places, but the pay wasn't all that great. We both were still going to school, but we had to work either late nights or early mornings.

Even though our jobs were only part time, it was still a little overwhelming with school. Adriana had been volunteering at an animal hospital, but when she told her boss about our situation, they offered to pay her. $50 an hour, 3 hours a day, 5 days a week. A lot of time for not a lot of money.

My job wasn't any better. Same pay, but 6 days a week. I worked at a local youth center for "troubled" teens. Most of them were older than me, but it wasn't a big deal.

I woke up one morning and saw it was 5:53. Papi was about to get in the shower. "Good morning babe." "Good morning beautiful." I love it when she call me that. I laugh. "You bout to start getting ready bae?" "Yea. Just gotta let our water heat up." "Our?" "You gon join me or nah?" I giggled and kissed her cheek. "Of course." She took my hand, and we walked to the bathroom.

When we got out it was almost 6:20. We had to be ready by 6:55 if we wanted to get a ride from Zeke. Most days I can just throw on whatever looks good. But today I put some real thought into it. I got on my favorite BVB tank top, black shorts, a black beany, and my black Converse with the chains.

Adriana was already in the living room waiting. When I stepped out she looked at me with a smirk. "Damn mami!" "What?" "Nothing. You just look sexy." "Aww thanks bae." She was sitting on the couch looking just a sexy. She was wearing her red plaid shirt, which is the one I love so much. She also had on her navy blue shorts, and red Jordan's. I walked over to her and sat on her lap, but I was straddling her legs so I could face her. "You look sexy too babe." I said kissing her lips.

Zeke came out of his room and caught us making out on the couch. Papi was on top of me and I had my arms around her neck. "Aye man. It's a little too early for the lesbian porn, don't you think?" Adriana and I both sat up. She patted her lap signaling me to sit, so I did. "Bro you just mad cause you ain't got what we got." She said and put her arms around my waist. "Whatever. Yall ready or nah?" "Yea bro. We ready." I said laughing. We grabbed our stuff and headed out.

Zeke drove pretty fast so we got to school early. He dropped us off in front and we walked in together. My friends were waiting for me, but I told them today was bae's day. No friends, just bae.

She walked me to class, and we did our usual hug and kiss by the door. My teacher was walking passed and tried to come for me. "Ms. Morris, kiss your girlfriend on your own time." "Has class actually started yet?" "No. You still have 5 mins." "Then it is still my own time." And I went right back to kissing Adriana. She laughed at me. "What?" "You finally grew some balls." "Nah babe. I'm flat as a table down there." I said kissing her cheek and walking into class.

Today we had A lunch so I met up with papi and her friends. Everything was cool, jus chilling with fam till there was an announcement asking me and Adriana to come to the main office. When we got there my dad was sitting in a waiting chair. "Hey baby girl." "What's this all about?" I needed answers before I started responding to 'baby girl' again. "Look. What your mom did was wrong. She shouldn't have put you out like that." "Ok. And? It doesn't matter she's with me now." Adriana was getting defensive. "I know. But I don't think you two should have to live like this. I support y'all 100%. And I came here to show you how much love you, and to give you this. It's from me and your aunts Cammie." He handed Adriana an envelope. "Just know I'm here if you need me. And I'm on your side." He said his last words and kissed my forehead. He patted Adri on the back as he walked out.

We didn't open the envelope until we got home. When we did I almost cried. My dad really did love us. The envelope had 2 checks and a few hundreds in it. The checks were made out to both of us. Each for 5 grand. There was also a note inside that read...

Dear Adriana and Cammie,

We love yall so much. Please use this wisely, but know we're always here if you need us. We hope to meet you soon Adriana. Be safe.

"I don't believe this." I was in tear now. "It's pretty clear. Your aunts and dad care about us." I smiled when she said. "Yeah they do care about us. Both of us." She kissed my cheek. This was just the help we needed.
