"Darcy..." he murmured half asleep.

She couldn't move Val's arm and leg enveloped her. She blinked rapidly, she had been in this position for almost an hour already.

He moved signaling that he's already awake. Why do I have this feeling that will get a little bit awkward? She closed her eyes and pretended to sleep.

"Darcy?" he whispered, she just groaned with eyes still close. He gently removed his limbs over her and checked on his alarm. "Shit. I forgot to set my alarm." He cursed, and rushed into the bathroom.

Last night had meant everything to her, but she'd ignored the fact that it was not fulfilling. Exactly what he'd warned her would happen. Val seemed perfectly content to sleep with her at night and ignore her for the rest of the day.

She was like a stupid teenager, she can't help but check her phone every fuckin' minute.

She had no call to be disappointed. She'd already known this will happen, though she'd given him what he needed it wasn't the kind she hoped for.

She'd been putting effort into this marriage ever since. But till when? She had been the perfect housewife.

She'd spent the entire day, doing some distractions, mostly she baked. She looked around the kitchen, her entire kitchen tables were covered with pastries: thirty pieces of blue berry muffins, fifty pieces of assorted cupcakes, two layered chocolate cake, a couple of organic pancakes she remembered the recipe Mrs. Potter told her and a dozen of fruit loafs.

Mixing the bowl, she exhaled and she let her eyes do the talking. Tears escaped from her eyes.

I shouldn't have expected something, she sniffed as she forced to stop the tears from flowing.

Suddenly her phone rang interrupting her moment. Val. She rushed to fetch her phone, clumsily clutching the phone into her hands. Was he calling to apologize? Was he thinking about me?

Excitement drained when she saw the caller ID, it was Candy. She swallowed and then answered.

"Hey!" her bright voice broke in.

"Yes," Darcy said sadly.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing. Why did you call?"

She heard a big exhale from the other line. "Open the door."

Darcy hastily went to the front door and opened it to find her sister standing brightly in front of her. "Surprise!" Cindy yelled.

It wasn't the kind of reaction Cindy expected from her, she knew that her sister hated surprises but for once can she be a little bit thrilled? Cindy thought.

"Hey, I just came here. Forgot already? I called you about it last time. I wanted to see you before I head to the University." She peaked inside the house, "Won't you let me come inside?"

Darcy gestured her sister to go inside. As she brushed off the sadness inside her.

"Bloody Hell! What had happened her?" Cindy saw the kitchen like it was just turned into a bakeshop and then turned to face her sister. Darcy doesn't look good, her eyes were swollen and her nose went red. "Oh dear, what happened?"
