Ineffable (Camren)

Goodnight Moon

As soon as Lauren pulled up at the restaurant behind Camila, she immediately grinned at the familiarity of it. It was her favourite Japanese restaurant in town and she perked up at the thought of Camila knowing this fact.

She shut the engine off and stepped out, meeting Camila next to her car.

"This is my favourite restaurant," Lauren beamed and the shorter girl raised her eyebrows in surprise.

"I honestly didn't know that, it was Normani's choice," Camila shrugged, "she said she'd had enough chicken wings for the week."

Lauren chuckled as she followed Camila inside. She was finally perking up and hoped the girls didn't ask about her performance tonight. It wasn't that she was against girl bands, because she believes in girl power and all that. Music was just something so dear to her heart and she always wanted to pursue her dreams solo, never giving a thought to becoming a duet or a group.

She was very particular about her sound and her lyrics, whereas she assumed Dinah, Ally and Normani had a sound the complete opposite to her.

Camila looked back at Lauren and giggled, noticing the girl's dazed expression. She halted her steps and poked her stomach. Lauren flinched and stared at Camila with that same 'really bitch?' expression.

"You went somewhere for a bit there, was just bringing you back down to earth," Camila explained innocently. She continued to make her way towards the table her friends were sat at and Lauren followed hesitantly behind her.

"What's up ladies!" Normani greeted them, shuffling down the booth so they could both fit in.

"Hey," Lauren replied with a tightlipped smile, glancing around the restaurant. Ally grinned in Camila's direction and gave her a thumbs up, to which Dinah slapped and shook her head. Ally retracted her thumbs and pouted.

The booth was quite small, so Camila and Lauren were squished together. Lauren instantly blushed as Camila's bare thigh rubbed against her jeans and she tried to shift away so one of her legs dangled outside the booth.

"So what are we thinking of ordering?" Dinah asked excitedly.

"Yakiniku Beef!" Ally squealed, clapping her hands.

"Bento box sounds good," Normani pondered, then nodded her head.

"I'm gonna go with the Salmon," Dinah announced.

"Boring!" Camila shouted, causing them all to break out in laughter apart from Dinah, and Lauren because she felt slightly timid. She did however have a small smile on her lips as Dinah glared at Camila.

"Well what are you choosing miss thang?" Dinah's head rolled as she spoke the last few words and Normally mimicked her, Ally giggling in between them.

"Sushi, what else?" She shrugged. She then turned to Lauren and winked, mouthing 'sushi?'. Lauren nodded her head and brushed her hair to the side, sliding the menu over to Camila.

"I wonder if they have almond milk," Dinah wondered out loud, her expression thoughtful. Lauren turned her head and burst into laughter, Ally did the same a second later and Normani just wore an amused expression, her eyes widening slightly. Camila chuckled to herself and then turned to find the waiter. 

The waiter then came over due to Camila's over dramatic wave and grin. Lauren couldn't suppress her laughter this time, along with the other girls. They ordered their food and then fell into silence after the waiter left.

Camila noticed Lauren's head down, playing with her fingers and she lightly brushed them with their own, immediately catching Lauren's gaze. Camila sent her a reassuring smile, before retracting her hands and placing them in her lap.
