Over the next few weeks the girls had each been working hard at school, barely able to spend any time with each other; apart from fifteen minutes at lunch each day. Lauren had her last performance over the coming weekend at the bar and thus would receive her last pay check. She wanted to invite her parents but they were going to LA for five days with Normani's, Camila's, Ally's and Dinah's parents to get a feel of the place the girls would be living in when they move there. It wasn't entirely necessary for their parents to go, but they were still keen to learn more about the record company Stuart worked at.
Considering all their parents would be away, Lauren had texted her friends and planned a weekend long sleepover. They definitely needed it after how long they'd been studying and although their parents expected them to stay home and continue revising for upcoming finals, the girls just couldn't take the isolation any longer.
They hadn't sung together since they sang for Ed Sheeran, so their vocals were suffering 'collaborative deprivation', as Camila would like to call it. They'd planned to meet at Lauren's house on Friday after school and bring movies over; each pertaining to their own personal taste.
Camila was exiting the school, planning to walk home because it was such a nice day. She'd be meeting everyone at Lauren's house in an hour but it wouldn't take her long to shower and pack her bag for three nights, so she took her time as she walked through the parking lot.
Glimpsing to her left she noticed a familiar car parked close by and watched as her ex-boyfriend wrapped his arms around a girl from the cheerleading squad. They proceeded to kiss heatedly for a few minutes as Camila blindly walked by cars, eyes fixed on the couple.
"He sure got over you fast," Lauren remarked, approaching her friend quietly.
Camila shot Lauren a frown, but never lost stride. "Yeah well, I got on top of you just as fast so..." She shrugged, not feeling the need to finish her sentence. Lauren quickened her steps to keep up with Camila as they made it to the street.
"That's true," Lauren replied simply, no malice hidden in her tone. "So, want a ride home?"
"No thanks," Camila replied airily, "but thanks." Lauren frowned at the girls sudden odd behaviour, but smirked once she noticed the shorter girls clenched fists swinging by her side as she walked. Lauren jogged so she could stand in front of Camila, forcing the shorter girl to stop abruptly.
"Are you jealous?"
"Of who?" Camila asked, folding her arms.
"Your ex and that girl," Lauren replied, nodding her head over to the pair that were still connected at the lips.
Camila rolled her eyes and released an unconvincing laugh. "I'm not jealous of her, I'm over him."
"I mean," Lauren stepped forward, "are you jealous of them? You're not very approachable when you're single and you haven't been goofy in class as of late."
"So? Do I need to be bubbly and happy all the time?" Camila spat.
Lauren shook her head, sighing. "I just feel like you're missing being in a relationship, having a security and all that. I don't want you to think relationships at our age are everything, because we're about to move to LA and you'll meet so many new people and have actual fans, that relationships will become so insignificant."
Camila studied the girl closely. "I don't know why you care so much. You can't give me what I want remember?"
Those words stung Lauren, but she remained in her spot, blocking Camila from moving forward. "I thought we were both over it, we haven't talked about it in weeks."
