3rd person;

"... Well, I'm Duncan Lalna Lividcoffee. And, well I needed some help around the castle. So, sure! I don't see why you can't stay!"Duncan attempted to smile.

Nano cocked her head and tried to scratch off the dirt on her wrists."Thank you... Sjin and Sips weren't very good to me. They blew me up."She toed the ground subconsciously.

"Those basta-"Duncan started as Nano put a finger against his lips.

"You can't bad mouth them, I'm the only one that can do that!"Nano exclaimed, as Duncan grinned.

He hadn't felt this joyful for a while. Since Reni's death. His grin dropped.

"What is it? You look so... Grim."She tread carefully.

"I... Someone very important to me died recently... I..."Duncan felt sadness spark in his heart.

"Oh-I'm so sorry, if I had known-"

Duncan stopped her."No, it's okay. She never seemed to be the type who was always afraid of death. I mean... Maybe she is happier than before."

"Was she your lover?"Nano asked innocently.

Duncan smiled forlornly."I guess you could say that.

The two wandered around the lab, conjuring small talk. Nano's arms swung at he sides, and Duncan had his hands in his pockets. Conversation ran so smoothly with Nano, and Duncan cherished the serious lack of awkward moments. He could produce endless chatter with her. They were very different people, with a lot to talk about.

"An that's how you make stable flux crystals!"Duncan finished as Nano have a satisfied smile.

"How awesome! I always wanted to know what flux is like..."

"It's dangerous. Seriously."

Just then, Duncan noticed a figure that perched on the top of his tallest tower. A purple cloak billowing behind him. The figure jumped, falling through the air with grace and speed... It landed with a thump on the ground.

"R-Rythian?!"Duncan stuttered.

"Hello, Duncan."Rythian smiled.

"Ah, are you the Mage? How awesome! How do you-"Nano started.

"No."Duncan stopped her."He's an enemy."

"An enemy..."She mumbled.

Rythian growled at the sight of Nano, and Duncan instinctively threw out his hand in defence.

"Leave her out of this."Duncan warned.

"Oh really."Rythian said with an icy glare."You lose your beloved and you run towards the next pretty girl you see. I'm beginning to realise your personality, Lividcoffee."

Duncan flinched."It's not like that!! I-"

"You need to say no more. Reni would be ashamed. You need to think about what you'd do if she was alive, and what she'd do... To her."Rythian swiftly pivoted and teleported away.

"I... Reni? I uh, I don't really know what's going on..."Nano stated, confused and slightly dazed by the Mage.

"It's fine."Duncan smiled and ruffled her hair."Rythian is a bit crazy anyways."

Her confusion returned to her chirpy happiness."Okay, Dunc!"

The scientist couldn't help but think about what the Mage said. What would he do if Reni was still alive? He gulped at the uneasy thoughts as he followed his apprentice into his lab.

Nano;

I'm happy here. Duncan is nice, the grass is green, this world is so full of beautiful light... What a perfect time. Duncan teaches me things, from science to magic. He told me about his past once, and what he thought his future would be like. I enjoy seeing dreams become aspirations, and aspirations become reality. I know that Duncan is one I can trust, after the Strawfingers-Sjin-Sips ordeal I'm not sure. But it seems that this blonde haired man... He just seems so... Lonely.

And there's something about him that I want to comfort. I don't think it's pity. If anything, he's pitying me. I think we will grow closer. Maybe, I'll help him get over his loss.

Zoey;

I still can't get over the fact that she's gone... It's hard for all of us.

I see Rythian coming in from a distance, cloak billowing behind him. My stomach lurches at the look on his face. He looks grim. As he descends, I ask anxiously."what's wrong?"

"Duncan's wrong. A girl named 'Nano' fell into his fountain, and he took her in right away. I don't think he even thought of what Reni would of thought."

Shock hits me hard,"W-What? Didn't he love her? Love her to the extent that he would kill someone?"

"He did. But now she's gone, he's willing to take anyone... And I think he has fooled even himself that he is in love. He doesn't know why that word means. Bastard."

I smile gently and pat his shoulder.

"Sometimes we just have to let the rock named fate roll down a hill."

Rythian smiles too."A weird way of putting it... But perhaps. Reni would be tossing in her crater."

"I wish Duncan would learn what love really is..."
