Serenity;
I'm not crying, to be honest I was almost expecting this to happen. I locked away my true feelings in my heart long ago, and as long as it still beats... I will keep my secrets to the grave. Staying too close to Duncan is dangerous, anyway. He could easily find out all the details about my life. He saw through me the first time we met, found out I wasn't human and found my weakness is alcohol. I don't know why, but I feel he betrayed what little mutual trust we had between us. But there was nothing to betray.
I know a Mage, a dinosaur and a girl live here, what personality should I use... Maybe a normal one? I like that. It's easy to act out. Or... Will there be another person who sees through me?
I reach the fort and see a dino watch tower. An arrow lands at my feet, a warning shot. Judging by his stance, at this distance, he couldn't have missed. His look says it all:
"Who are you and what are you doing here?!"
"Uh, I want to talk to the Mage and girl. It's about Duncan."
He nods slowly and notches his bow, points it at my back, and allows me to walk inside. I see that the interior is very nicely decorated, but I don't get to see much as the Dino rushes me a little. He takes me to what looks like a war room, and a sign that said,'OPERATION DINO DAY' on it. I see two people, a girl with bright red hair, a cheery smile and dozens of mushrooms around her. In contrast, the man had dull brown hair with a blonde streak, generally dark clothing and a black mask that covered half his face.
"What do you want?"A deep accented voice growls.
"I want to talk about Duncan."I say firmly.
"Okay..."A warm female voice replied.."Tell us your story."
I explain everything that happened at Duncan's.(Leaving out the details like I can act out numerous personalities) my name and then our final argument. They told me their thoughts, and I'm glad they don't hate me.
"He told me that if I wasn't going to reveal all my secrets then I can't stay, so he kicked me out."I finish, remembering our fight.
"That bastard."Rythian's eyes flash. I know he seeks revenge."Reni, you can stay with us if you like. You're always welcome here, victims of... Duncan's malice."
"Can I hear your story?"I ask, as he gets an encouraging look from Zoey and nods.
"Before this world, there was another. We all call it the 'Old World'. Zoeya... I... We all lived fairly peacefully, going down our separate routes. I used my magic, Sjin and the others used science and all that rubbish. After a while of peace, a small feud started between Sjin and Duncan. This feud became something more: a full war. Everything was blown to smithereens. Duncan just stood there, laughing and saying how beautiful it was. He is a twisted man."
Duncan... Did that? Was he that cruel? How did I not know. All he wants to do is bring me pain, so why do I feel so guilty?
"I'm sorry."I say softly."And Rythian, can I talk to you for a moment?"
He nods and Zoey gets up,"I'm going to make some mushroom stew, okay Ryth?"
"Okay!"Rythian smiles and his eyes trail after her.
"Eyes on me, lover boy."I give up my change in personality, his eyes narrow.
"What do you want?"
"You're an Enderborn, right?"
He looks mildly surprised."Yes... But what are you?"
"I..."I start, should I lie?
"Tell the truth. Your secret is safe with me."
"Well, I'm a Demi-God. A little like Ridge, but I'm much weaker. I also have his blood running through my veins. Notch told me it was a power yet to be awakened."
"Hm."He fingers his katar, which is strapped to his side.
"I know. Every time someone figures out I'm a Demi-God they don't accept me. You... Duncan... Do what you want to me, just please don't tell anyone else!"I plead, hoping to god that my theories hold up.
He gave me a hug."Don't worry. I won't tell anyone. I can relate... People never used to accept me too."
I like Rythian. He's like the father I never had. He understands me, all because he went through the same thing. I wish Duncan would understand...
