Joseph took my hand and walked to where that noise came from. I'm not familiar with the house so I don't want to risk walking the wrong way.

We bumped into my brother and the others on the way there. Marco was leading the group.

"What are you guys doing here?" Joseph and Marco asked at the same time.

"Keira heard a sound and wanted to check, to see if everything's okay." Joseph squeezed my hand.

"I heard it too... took so long to make the guys stop playing their games and come along." Mavis said.

"I just wanted to tag along 'coz I wanted to." Vincent smiled.

Together, we walked towards the entrance of the pack house where the voice became louder.

"I want my children now!"

I froze.

"Vince? How does she know we're here?" I asked him.

"I don't know... I never mention about this to her." Vincent admitted.

"Do you want us to go?" Joseph asked me gently.

I nodded. Everyone took that as an indication to leave except Joseph. They left quietly after I said that and soon it's just Vince, Joseph and I standing there.

"You're not leaving?" I asked Joseph.

He shook his head. "You're my mate so we stay together no matter what."

"Let's do this." Vincent and I walked to the entrance of the pack house with Joseph.

"Let me see them. I know they are here!" Mom snapped at Joseph's dad.

"Calm down Martha." He tried to calm her down.

"I won't! Not when you are trying to kidnap-"

"Mom?" Vincent called her.

"Vince? Oh thank god you are here!" Mom rushed into the house and pulled him to a hug.

"Did these people do anything to you? Come on we are leaving." Mom decided.

"It's fine mom, Vince and I will be back before dinner." I spoke for Vince.

She turned to me, her eyes widen.

"We. Are. Leaving. Now." She said between her breath.

"Why?" I asked her.

"Because I'm your mother and I'm telling you to do so. Now come on." She walked towards the car.

I looked over to Vincent, who seemed to be contemplating.

"Mom... you know that I respect you. A lot. And Keira and I will be home before dinner. Promise." He said.

"Oh honey, we are leaving for California." Mom said.

What? I thought we are not going to move anymore.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

"You said that this is the last time we will be moving so why are we moving now?" He prodded for answers.

"Dad got offered a job, a high-paying job." Mom said.

"I'm not leaving! Dad said he won't make us move." I said.

There's no way I'm going to leave Joseph here. If I can't survive a week without feeling dead inside me, I'd rather end my life.

Not. But you know what I meant. Life will be useless.

"You have no say in this and I'm telling you to go." Mom snapped.

"Then I'll stay here. With Keira. We still survive when you guys are away so I don't see how not moving to California would make a difference."

"Besides, I'm eighteen. I'm a legal guardian for Keira."

Mom was shocked. Of course, her golden child is finally making a decision for himself. Yeah, mom sort of prefers Vincent. Since he is like those boys in the typical Teen Fiction genre; really nice, smart and sporty.

Unlike me. Again, I may be like the girls in those books; shy and nerdy. Okay maybe not nerdy. I got Bs everytime with an occasional A.

Mom looked at me. "You. You are the one who has been putting thoughts in his head." She accused me.

That has gone too far.

"I'm pretty sure Vince can decide for himself." I countered.

Joseph tighten his hand on mine. Wow. I totally forgot about his presence the whole time.

"Keira didn't decide for me. I did. And I wanted to stay here."

"But why? You will enroll in a good school where the basketball team is really good. Isn't that what you want?" Mom persuaded.

"I used to. Now I wanna stay here. With my friends." Vincent reasoned.

"And what about you Keira? Why do you wanna stay here? You have nothing here."

Stop.

"And you lost your best friend."

Just stop.

"And the boy you liked... Wyatt right? You lost him too."

Shut up.

"You told me the other day that Gracie dumped you as her friend. What you didn't say was that she tried so hard to make you and Wyatt happen and you threw that away."

"Mom stop." Vincent tried to stop mom but she simply put her hand up.

"And it's all because of him." She pointed at Joseph.

It's true. It was all Joseph. If we hadn't meet again, this won't happen.

"You are right. Joseph is the cause of anything. But I don't give a damn about it." I gave him a smile.

"Just leave this house Martha." Joseph's dad finally spoke.

"You are a rogue and I'm giving you a chance to leave before you will be punished. Your children, on the other hand, will always be welcomed here."

Alpha's words. It's decided. Mom has to leave.

"Fine. But I'll come back." She left the house and slammed the door shut.

A few seconds passed.

"Is she really gone?"

Vincent nodded.

"Alright, problem's solved. I'm going to my office now."

"Wait." I stopped him. "Do you really mean that? That we are welcome here?"

"Of course. You are going to marry my son anyways. Besides, you guys did nothing wrong."

"Anyways, are you kids interested in joining the pack?" He asked us.

"Um... where will we live then?" Vincent asked.

"Here of course, where you'll be safe."

I looked at Vincent. His eyes said yes. I smiled.

"Then yes. We'd love to." I said.

"Alright then. Welcome back to the pack. I will host a celebration for you kids."

"Thanks Alpha King." I said.

"Nah... call me Jon. Won't be right if my in-law calls my alpha."

"Okay, thanks Jon."

"Better." He left.
