"Steven? What are you doing here?" I hugged him.

Steven has been my childhood friend. He's one of mom's friends' son. We always celebrate Thanksgiving at their house. To see him here is a huge surprise, seeing that he lives in New York.

"I'm here to see you of course!"

"But Thanksgiving is just a month away." I laughed lightheartedly.

That's when the bell rang. I sighed. I hate Chemistry.

"What are you having right now?" I asked Steven, hoping that he has Chemistry right now too.

"Um... I'm not exactly a student here." Steven confessed.

I narrowed my gaze at him. "What do you mean by 'I'm not exactly a student here?'"

"It means exactly what I said."

"So you are just lying to me then?"

"No of course not! I really came here to see you."

"And that's the only you came here out of the blue? To see me?" I asked further.

"Let's talk calmly about this alright? Especially if we are going to get married." He held my hand.

"What?" I pulled my hand away. "What are you talking about?"

"I'm pretty sure Martha already told you about this." Steven frowned.

Mom's involved in this. It was kind of surprising because I'd never thought she would go to this extent to disturb us. "Oh no she didn't. Why didn't you tell me then?"

"We are to be engaged in next two weeks. Then I'll bring you back to New York where we will start our new lives together." Steven explained.

"Nice joke but I really need to go to class right now." I hurried to class.

All I could think of is Steven's explanation earlier. We are getting married? To be honest I don't look at him in that way. I never liked him that way.

He is just a friend of mine, I see him every Thanksgiving and occasionally on fourth of July... that's all.

This is seriously messed up. And I really need to talk to someone about it. Maybe Joseph.

Speaking of Joseph, where is he? He shares the same classes with me. Except Literature. I texted him his whereabouts.

A few minutes later, my breast pocket vibrated.

'Sorry babe... I gotta go home... something's up. I'll see you when you get back. xx'

'Take care. xx' I replied.

Steven will always find me during the short ten-minute break in between lessons to talk about that 'engagement'. Which I'm really wondering... is it really true?

I tried my best to hide away from him, which means staying in the ladies' room throughout the whole ten-minute break in between lessons.

"Spill sister." Mavis connered me in the restroom after she threatened the other kids to leave the room.

"Nothing."

"It's kind of obvious you are thinking about something." Mavis pressed.

I sighed. There is no way I could not tell her. She is really persistent. Once she sets her mind to it, there's no stopping her.

I told Mavis everything, from Steven's greeting me all the way to him saying that I am going to be betrothed to him soon.

"That's sick." Mavis said in disgust.
