The next morning, I groaned and rolled over, just remembering that I had slept on the couch again last night. Caspar stayed in his bed last night as well. I stared at the ceiling, thinking about how I would decorate my room.
Zoe dropped off my luggage, as well as the boxes that I had shipped from America to their flat that had more clothes, pictures, and decorations. Of course, my room was about at big as a closet, so I wouldn't be able to use much of it. I jumped as I heard the doorbell ring and I shot up, rubbing my eyes before answering the door.
"Yeah?" I said as I opened the door. I looked up to see a delivery man standing at the door with a clipboard. He looked me up and down, and I had just realized that I was still in Joe's joggers and a tank top.
"Uh, a delivery for," He squinted at the clipboard through his glasses. "Marley Sugg?" He peered at me and I nodded.
"That's me," I said, signing the clipboard. "Is this the furniture I ordered?" I asked, pulling my hair up into a pony tail.
"Yes ma'am. Do you need help getting it up? The pieces are in the truck downstairs." He said, taking back the clipboard. I nodded.
"Yes, just a moment." I hurried downstairs and knocked on Caspar's door, hearing a groan. I let myself in and shook him awake.
"Marley, it's bloody 8 am! What do you want?" He said, his voice groggy.
"The furniture is here. I need you to help me transport it up here." I said, pulling him up and out of bed. He was shirtless and had a pair of sweatpants on. He nodded and ran a hand through his hair before walking upstairs.
We following the delivery man downstairs and through the lobby, out onto the street. The men out there were unloading a bed frame, a mattress, a desk, a dresser, and two more packages which I assumed were my sheets and blankets. The furniture was loaded into boxes, so I would have to put them together. Caspar groaned.
"How much shit have you bought, Marley! My God!" He looked at me and started laughing before looking back at the furniture.
"A lot. Go get Joe. He needs to sit out here and watch the stuff while we take it upstairs." I said, grabbing the two packages and setting them inside the lobby. Caspar rolled his eyes and went upstairs, and 10 minutes later he returned with a very sleepy looking Joe that was wrapped in a blanket. I sat Joe down on a bench in the lobby where he could see the boxes and helped Caspar take my bed frame up.
Once all the furniture I had ordered was in the flat, Joe went and flopped down on the couch and started snoring instantly. I laughed and Caspar helped me get the sheets down to my room. Now all I had to do was build my furniture and then decorate.
Caspar rubbed the back of his neck and started back towards his room, his tall figure slightly clumsy due to his groggy state. I grabbed his wrist and tugged him back towards me. He turned around, a questioning look in his eyes.
"Would you help me put this stuff together?" I begged. I cringed at how needy that sounded, but it's not like I could lift a fifty-pound bed frame and move it around the room. I glanced at Caspar's biceps, knowing that could get the job done easily. Caspar groaned and trudged back into the room, running a hand through his hair. I smiled to myself and started to unbox the bed frame.
"I got it," Caspar took my hands from the box as I struggled to remove the various wood pieces. He pulled the wood out almost effortlessly. I sighed and took out a few smaller bags full of screws.
"Thanks again for helping me with all this stuff. And sorry I woke you up so early." My cheeks flushed crimson and I focused on helping him put the frame in order. Caspar let out a low chuckle and shook his head.
"Don't worry about it. I need to get to know you better anyways," He heaved the now put together frame up and started to push it towards the corner at the far end of the room. "This should hopefully help me get to know you!" He panted as he set it down. Caspar looked up at me. I smiled at him and moved towards the mattress, picking up one end and waiting for him to get to the other. He wiped the perspiration from the back of his neck and moved over to the other end.
"One... Two.. Three!" We picked it up at the same time and shuffled it over onto the bulky frame. I took the sheets out of the thick plastic bag they came in and started shaping them around the mattress. As I laid the quilt on top of everything, Caspar flopped down on the sheets and ruffled them up.
"Caspar-" I protested, squeaking as he pulled me down to sit on the bed next to him. I scowled at the ruffled sheets as started flattening them out, spreading my hand down across the fabric. Caspar let out a throaty chuckle.
"Oh, get over it!" He shoved me playfully and stood up, looking around. "Well, we still have to build a desk and-" He leaned over and examined another large box. "A dresser!" He started with the smaller box and took everything out of it as I settled down on my knees next to him.
After we finished setting up all the furniture and moving it into place, I settled back down on the bed proudly. Caspar sat by my feet and looked around, nodding.
"Not bad, not bad at all!" He said, looking around once more before settling is gaze on me. The edges of his mouth pulled up into a crooked smile. I laughed and sat up. Caspar glanced down at his feet. "Listen, Marley, " Caspar started, swallowing and keeping this gaze on the wooden floor. I curled my feet up next to me.
"Yeah?" I choked out, anxiety bubbling up. I knew it was irrational to be so nervous. Knowing Caspar, this would just be a weird joke and he would make fun of me for it. But maybe, Zoe was right. Maybe he did like me. But he couldn't! It has only been three days!
"I- I really like you. You're pretty, smart, and hilarious." Caspar's words pulled me from my train of thought. I gulped and blushed crimson, biting down on my lip. I'd honestly never heard someone say that to me. A smile tugged at my lips. "I was wondering... If maybe, maybe you wanted to go out with me sometime? I don't know, see a film or go out to eat?" He stammered, rubbing the back of his neck and finally pulling his gaze from the floor up to meet mine. My heart swelled. Why was I acting so attached to him? I shook my head clear and smiled.
"Of course, Caspar. Although, I would talk with Joe about it first. He gets quite protective of me sometimes." I managed to say, my heart in my throat. Happiness practically burst from my veins. Why was I so happy? None of it was making sense. Caspar beamed and tried to subtly move closer, failing. I laughed and lifted both my feet onto the bed, curling them up under me.
"I will. Definitely. Um, just a quick question... Kind of stupid actually." He paused, rubbing the back of his head and wrinkling his nose nervously. "How many boyfriends have you had?" Caspar mumbled, looking down. He was obviously afraid to see my reaction to the question. I giggled and shook my head.
"Only like, three. I'm actually surprised you showed any interest in me. No one has ever said anything sweet to me like that and I was really starting to-" I was cut off abruptly when his warm lips found mine, his hand combing into my hair at the back of my head. I reached my hand up and held onto his neck, pulling myself up towards his height so the kiss wouldn't feel as awkward. I suddenly remembered the circumstances and pulled away, biting my lip and looking down. I glanced up at Caspar.
"I'm sorry, that was uncalled for," He started to stand up, running a hand through his hair, shame swirling around in his eyes. I shook my head and smiled.
"No, really, it was nice." I smiled. I shifted on the bed awkwardly. Caspar started towards the door.
"I'm gonna... Yeah, I'm gonna go now." He pointed to the door and shuffled awkwardly down the hallway, rubbing the back of his neck. My face grew hot and I smiled to myself. As I looked down the hall, I knew I was completely and immutably in love with this boy - and I didn't know how.
