The ride slowed to a stop, and people around us started exiting the carts, some whooping and others giggling with delight. I looked at Caspar and he just shook his head, cupping my face with one hand and kissing me again. I flushed scarlet and stood up, climbing out of the ride, my heart racing.

Caspar kept glancing at me, chuckling at the childish delight on my face. How could a guy make me feel this way?

He slid his hand over mine, entwining our fingers sweetly, a smile spread across his face. I sighed and glanced around. There were couples hanging out eating cotton candy and ice cream, and children running around and shrieking, chocolate smeared on their lips. I giggled and watched them play, before looking up as we approached Joe.

"Hey, Marley girl!" Joe chuckled, Caspar's hand around my own, his thumb brushing against the back of my hand softly. He glanced back up. "Where to next?" He asked, squinting in the sunlight. It was about two p.m, the sun was high in the sky and beating down on everything.

"I'm up for anything. Shall we get lunch?" Caspar asked, looking at me. I glanced at Joe, my stomach rumbling.

"Yeah, I'm cool with that." I glanced at Joe and he nodded, turning around and glancing at the food trucks gathered around.

"Looks like they've got burgers, hot dogs," He paused, peering through the sunlight. "pizza, and tacos." He finished, turning back to Caspar and me. Caspar's eyes lit up, and he let go of my hand, headed towards the pizza truck. I laughed and turned to Joe.

"What are you going to get?" I asked him, thinking about my own meal. Nothing really spoke to me.

"I'm not sure. Probably tacos. Are you okay here? I'll be right back," Joe asked, turning towards the taco truck. I nodded and looked around, fanning myself.

I paused. Ice cream!

I turned around and headed back to where I saw people eating ice cream and stood in line, peering over people's shoulders to see the flavors. Cookie dough! I took out my cash, waiting impatiently for the line to move up.

I glanced behind me, wondering if Caspar and Joe were done getting food.

"Miss?" I turned around and saw the cashier gesturing for me to move forward. I blushed, embarrassed, and gave her my order and money. She handed me my cone and I thanked her, turning around to scan the crowd for Caspar or Joe.

When I couldn't find them I headed back to where the food trucks were, they were nowhere to be found. They must've gotten their food already and sat down without me. I started towards some of the picnic tables set nearby when someone grabbed my arm.

"Marley! Where have you been? I told you to stay right here!" Joe's voice sounded behind me, and he let go of my arm.

"No, you didn't! Plus, I left for ice cream, so it's okay." I laughed, having some of my ice cream. Joe rolled his eyes and chuckled. I glanced at Joe as Caspar snaked his arm around me, pressing a kiss to my forehead before taking another bite of his slice of pizza.

He pulled away as we walked back to the wooden picnic tables in the small clearing nearby, devouring his pizza. This was a perfect area for lunch; beautifully old willow trees lined the edge and there were a few pink flowers left in this late August. I gazed around and followed Joe to a picnic table at the far end of the clearing, laughing as children raced past, an earthworm dangling between the little boy's fingers.

We sat down and finished our food, laughing about the children playing and getting mud all over themselves. Caspar's hand was on my thigh, his hand was warm against my skin, and I squirmed as a ball twisted in my stomach.
