I awoke to the sunshine peering in the window next to me and I yawned widely. I glanced at myself in the mirror across the room, and for just waking up, I looked pretty cute! I smiled to myself at the thought that I looked cute - what a joke. I rolled over, tugging the sheets up to my chin. I pulled out my phone and scrolled through my feed, seeing a text from Zoe wishing me a good morning. I had a reminder to go to work around noon today. I really hope my photography career will pick up soon. I think this jewelry store position will be pretty lame compared to photography.
Suddenly, my door flew open and I felt a heavy weight fall on me, making me squeak. I rolled over and saw Joe peering down at me, a devilish grin plastered on his face. He found my sides and tickled my, making me scream. I heard a muffled groan from down the hall and a sleepy and shirtless Caspar stumbled from his room, rubbing his eyes.
"Joe, it's noon. Why're you screaming so early." He stopped when he saw me in bed and rolled his eyes. "Oh, it was you. Huh, Joe has a scream just like yours." I gasped for breath and writhed under Joe's iron grip.
"Caspar!" I gasped, trying to get Joe's hands off of me. I laughed hysterically as Joe tickled me. "Help me!"
"C'mon, Marley! Don't you love your cousin?" Joe laughed, not affected by my constant struggling. Finally, Caspar who was laughing at my torture pushed Joe off the bed and took his place next to me. Thankfully, no tickling occurred.
"No!" I wheezed, groaning. Caspar's hand rested on my leg, while he kicked Joe away. Joe got up finally and stretched, his stomach rumbling.
"Alright then, I'm making eggs. Who wants some?" Joe said, readjusting his shirt which has been splayed all over. Caspar's hand shot up and he squealed. I just shook my head.
"I don't really like eggs, I'm good," I said, rolling over and closing my eyes again. Ten o'clock was much too early to be awake. I heard Joe sigh and walk down the hallway and race up the stairs. Caspar's hand didn't move from my side. Instead, I felt his warm body join me in bed. I turned to see him watching me intently. "What?" I asked, sitting up and turning towards him.
He shook his head. "Nothing," Caspar answered, a mischievous light in his eyes. I threw a pillow at him.
"Tell me!" I pushed him, which did nothing. He grabbed my hands and pulled me close. We were only a few inches apart. I could feel his warm breath hit my cheek softly.
"I'd like to talk to you about our date." He said, pulling away and changing the subject. I leaned back against the wall.
"Did you talk to Joe?" I asked, looking at him. His blue gaze scattered around the room, nervously.
"About that," Caspar started, sitting up. "Do I have to? I mean, Joe could end up hating me." He whined. I laughed, taking his hand. Surprise flickered in his eyes.
"Joe won't hate you," I reassured him, feeling relieved as his gaze appeared more relaxed. "He knows I need someone." I trailed off, my eyes flickering to the wall. Thankfully, Caspar didn't ask questions. Instead, he gave me a small smile and nodded.
"If it's important to you, I will." He started to stand, but I pulled him into a hug. He wrapped his firm arms back around me and squeezed. Finally, we both pulled away and Caspar looked confused. "What was that?" He asked, brushing his hand through his hair. I smiled.
"A thank you," I said quietly.
"For what?" Caspar pressed, sitting down next to me again. I paused, wringing my hands.
"For listening," I said finally. Caspar looked down before smiling at me.
"No problem, Marley." He murmured, pressing a light kiss on my lips. A shock rippled through me and I had to resist the urge to wrap my arms around his neck and let him carry me away. And with that, he left the room quickly, dashing up the stairs to join Joe for breakfast.
