Tantalus sat on one of the tower ramparts, watching a storm of in the distance. He sighed, and his ghost piped up, "It wasn't your fault!" The small machine yelled in a commanding voice. "You couldn't save them, there's no way you'd have been able to fight through all those Taken!" "I could have tried!," Thantalus screamed, " I ran and now they are dead!" Tears flowed down his face, he was furious. Arc lightning started flowing around his body and his eyes flowed bright blue. "Calm down Guardian!, You can't let yourself become consumed!" The ghost pleaded.  Thantalus in his rage couldn't hear him, he turned his body towards the ghost. "Fine, contacting Ikora, " the ghost said with sorrow. A few minutes past and Thantalus' robes were starting smoke, the spinmetal soles of his graves arc welding themselves to the floor, his longish blonde hair standing on near end. He was being Consumed.
Ikora finally arrived, water vapor and lightning was circling around Thantalus, yelling was futile, Ikora, the warlock vanguard, surrounded herself In void light and stepped through the fray if water and lightning. She reached out her hand and sent a jolt of void light into Thantalus' back, sending him reeling and out cold.

Shax and Ikora stood over Thantalus' body. They moved him to the vanguard headquarters room and laid him on a cushion for him to rest. "What happened to him?" Shax asked in an angry voice. "He was being consumed by the immense power he holds," Ikora explained. "Consumed?" Shax searched his memory, "Im not familiar, what is it?" Ikora began, " To be consumed is to totally lose focus of the task at hand and letting his true feelings and emotions take control over his body, when they lose control, their power is unleashed in forms the wielder cannot handle and it begins to destroy them." About that time Commander Zavala, the Titan Vanguard Mentor, and Cayde-6, the Hunter Vanguard Mentor, walked up. Zavala's Awoken blue skin was taught into a grim expression, "What are we going to do? What happened that he could have exploded into something like this?" Cayde piped up and in a smartass tone said, " Well it wasn't good and we can have him going out into the field alone now!" Ikora shot Cayed a disgusted look. "His whole fire team was wiped out, Taken ambushed them on Venus, those warlocks were his best friends..." Ikora's voice trailed off. Thantalus was slowly beginning to wake and his ghost materialized, "He's waking up."
"I could have saved them..." Thantalus slowly said. "Nonsense!" His ghosted retorted, "There was nothing you could do, not with that many enemies around!" Zavala, Ikora, Cayde, and Shax looked at each other questioningly. "We need to keep an eye on him," Shax explained, " We can't have him blowing up and destroying the tower or hurting someone else!" "We'll put a fire team with him." Ikora said. "Who do you recommend?" Zavala asked. "I'll need a Titan and a Hunter that are not afraid of anything, and can subdue Thantalus in the event he starts again." Ikora explained. "I've got just the guy for the job on my end" Cayed said. "And I've got a girl that might be some help." Zavala implored. " let's get them teamed up then!" Cayde smiled cheerfully!
Thantalus sat up on the cushion err he was lying. His comms beeped, "This is Ikora," Thantalus sighed,"we need you at the front of the speakers room ASAP." "I'm coming." Thantalus replied hastily. His whole body hurt, his muscles ached with sourness and he had a strange smell of burnt hair rumination from his body. He stood up his muscled frame writhing with tension and pain. He donned his singed cloak and boots then headed toward the speakers area. He couldn't shake the feeling that things were going to get a lot worse than it already was for him. He arrived at the entrance to the speakers room only to find that Zavala, Ikora, and Cayde were already there accompanied by two other guardians. The unknown Titan(obviously female) had her helm on and closed so he could not see her face but her muscular frame was visible even through the Titans armor, the Hunter however had his helmet tucked underneath his arm and the good of his cloak drawn back, his dark gray scuffled face in an intense scowl. "What's going on?" Thantalus asked, "why are they here?" "They," Ikora said snidely, " are your new fire team." Thantalus tried to interject but was cut off by Zavala," They are also going to keep an eye on you, to make sure you don't try to blow up again." Thantalus took a step back, "Babysitters? What the hell?!? I'm a fucking warlock, I don't need babysitters." Ikora jumped up, furious she grabbed Thantalus by the front of his robes and dragged him close to her, "They are your caretakers, your bodyguards, you have no right to choose your partners now that you almost blew half the tower up with your stunt last night!!" She released him and pointed to were the two guardians were standing. "I'm very sorry," Thantalus said, "I'm sure you've heard the stories about me... And I'm sure they weren't good, but I will work with both of you to do whatever they tell me to do." The Titan spoke in a semi-cheerful voice, " Hi! I'm Susanna, and I'm new to the Titan Vanguard. It's a... pleasure to meet you..!"  Susanna said the last part of her sentence with a hint of displeasure. Thantalus turned to the Hunter, "And you are?" The Hunter stood as tall as possible ,coming up to the warlocks nose, and said, "I am Alexius but you can call me Alex." "Right." Thantalus was a bit taken back at Alex's tough accent and posture but soon recovered. "Ikora, what's the mission?" She began to explain, "Three weeks ago, a team of guardians went missing in Old Chicago." Thantalus interjected, " Isn't that place highly toxic?" "Yes,"Ikora responded, " It's also a place where massive amount of hive have been reported and are storing massive amounts of arc energy." The new fire team looked at each other, Alex spoke," So you want us to go into a radioactive, toxic wasteland, infiltrate hive burrows and take out the source of the Arc energy?" "Yes" Ikora responded, "And how are we supposed to do that?" Thantalus asked rudely. Ikora looked at Zavala and Cayde and smiled, " We have no idea." "Great..." Thantalus looked dejected

Thantalus went to check on his ship, but was stopped short by Shax. "Guardian, I have something for you." Shax held out his large arms with a chest and set it on the ground. Thantalus opened the chest and took out a new set of robes gauntlets and greaves. "What is this for?" Thantalus asked. Shax chuckled, "Since your other gear was trashed I made you new gear, try it on, it's specially made just for you." Thantalus went to his hangar and stripped down to his undergear, a thin stretchable suit, and donned the new robes Shax had given him. As soon as he put them on he felt Arc energy course through the robes pieces from the light chest piece to the pauldrons that sat on his shoulders. It felt good almost powerful. He took the new gauntlets and put them on carefully resealing the cuffs, they're light. He let a small amount of energy flow between his fingertips, it glowed bright, much bright than before and it felt more controllable calmer almost. He then put the new boots and graves on. The mechanics that helped the guardians jumped hummed with a new enthusiasm, jeez, they're light too, very light. He grabbed his helmet, it was an older helmet that had horns that came out like a demons and had a pitch dark mask. It was special, for him it focused his powers then amplified them exponentially and helped him gain it back faster. He made his way to the towers hangar were he was supposed to meet up with Susanna and Alex. There he saw his ship, War Thunder. It had two large engines on either wing close to the fuselage it had a rounded front end and the cockpit was mid way from the front to the rear of the ship, it's deep blue color shone in the light of the hangar. There were two other ships behind it one was the same model but a bright red color and the other was similar. The hangar doors opened then Alex and Susanna walked in we all were wearing our helmets now preparing to head to the North side if Old Chicago to begin their mission. All three ghosts transmatted the guardians into their ships and they made their way to the outskirts of radioactive Old Chicago.
