Thunder's Storm

The Colossus of Night

The evening sun was setting, a few hundred guardians had gathered on the blood and fluid soaked ground. Misty rain had settled. A colossal figure stood with two massive gauntlets holding the shaft of a massive axe. It's black blade gleamed in the setting sun. The lights on the tower walls ignited the night. The Colossus as Ikora had taken to calling it bellowed in the night. It was a screeching animalistic scream. It price Thantalus' ears and all the others around him. Shaxx stood next to him poised with his sword in his right hand and shotgun in his left. Thantalus checked his auto rifle. It was a bullpup design and had helped him through many battles. The latest battle was about to start.
A command was yelled through the ranks by an unknown commander,
"Warlocks! Unleash Hell!!" A battle cry ran through the guardian line has massive amounts of void and fire collided with the Colossus it staggered for half a second. The creature screamed again as it brought down its weapon onto a few guardians near the middle of the line killing them instantly a shock leave rippled across the ground sending guardians on all sides flying. Sniper shots rained down from the wall as the Titans and a few warlocks charged it. The colossus swung his axe wildly at the guardians narrowly missing them. Thantalus threw bolts of lightning like javelins, one after the other never letting up. Susanna was firing here rifle and using solar grenades and firing her burst rifle. Alex was still sitting on the wall with his massive snipers rifle. It was a golden age creation and shot bullets as long as his forearm. Each round impacting but not fazing the large target. He noticed some of the city dwellers that made up militias and such were preparing large cannons and rocket launchers. The cannons let loose. Rockets pounded the Colossus. Thantalus and the guardians on the ground were cheering.
The cheers died away as the cannons slowed firing. The Colossus screamed it's unearthly scream again, enraged. It formed a large energy orb at the point of its helm and let it loose aiming for the top of the wall. Shaxx noticed this just before and declared an order to the patrons of the wall

"Clear the wall!" He screamed, "get out of there!" He Hunters didn't hesitate to jump the height of the wall using their varying energies to pause momentarily in midair. Landing lightly on the ground. The regulars on the wall were not so lucky as the energy impacted and dragged across the wall. Some made it down the maglev lifts but others weren't so lucky. The beam of energy decimated the top of the wall sending pieces of the walkway flying in all directions. 
As the Hunters hit the ground they never ceased firing, some switching to their semiautomatic rifles, because their snipers rifles were destroyed in the blast. The Warlocks, stunned momentarily by the impact continued their barrage as the Titans, now joined by a few close ranged Warlocks and Hunters, charged the giant once more.

The Colossus began his thrashing, slamming his axe into the ground and stomping. He sent energy beams everywhere trying to decimate the horde of guardians. The guardian line flowed like a wave charging forward then being pushed back. The guardians managed to put up personal protective shields at just the right time to be sent reeling but not be destroyed. As the colossus was about to prepare another strike, a massive barrage of rockets and machine gun fire  hit the monster square in the chest. Guardian ships had finally arrived. The force of the barrage made the Colossus stagger, and drove him to one knee, he turned and disappeared in a cloud of ash and smoke. The guardians were cheering and hugging their brothers. Thantalus was standing by himself rubbing the back of his helmet where his head hurt. He had been blasted back into a large rock.
Thantalus heard his name being called and Susanna ran and have him a tackling hug.

"We did it!" She yelled. He had never seen her this excited. Alex had joined them as well smiling, for once. Alex broke the awed silence,
"What the hell was that thing!?!, It was bigger than an Ogre!"
Thantalus looked at him,
"It's a Colossus, remember that huge Hive we saw in the cavern?"

"Yea"

"Same thing"

"Damn"

Susanna looked back and forth at the two Guardians conversing on the battlefield. Every guardian on the field stopped and looked toward the top of the wall. The Speaker(The most powerfully connected to the Traveler and leader of the Guardians) stood on top and spoke to the Guardians,

"Guardians, today was a day of great strife and loss, a day that tested the strength of our minds, our prowess, and the strength of our bond with the Light and with each other. This was a detrimental blow to the city and it's people. We will remember those, both regular human and Guardian, who lost their lives today. I fear though this may not be the end of the Hive's attacks. But we will remain! We must prepare for..."

He was interrupted by a large black orb forming on the other side of the Guardian line, Guardians of all types stood together and raised their weapons. Toward the thing. Susanna, Thantalus, and Alex stood shoulder to shoulder, all three waiting expectantly. Thantalus felt a familiar energy emanating from the orb. The orb dissipated as the Gray skinned, wing woman emerged with one Colossus on her right and one on her left, both were holding their axes. Thantalus noted that the one on her left had a large glowing crack in its chest. He smiled for a second to himself, then reset his mind to its grim state. The Speaker released white energy that picked him up and he hovered about 40 feet over the Guardians heads. His voice bellowed in anger, more of the white energy threw wind and light in every direction, his white mask and robes fluttered in the storm,
"Who are you to attack our people, to attempt to swallow the light. Now you come to challenge us, WHAT SAY YOU!"

The woman smiled, sharp teeth filled her mouth as she spoke,
"In the Hive language, the mall me Detrinan en ov klae, in your language Detrinan, Death of Light. Most, however just call me Death."
She looked down straight into Thantalus' eyes she smiled again,
"I see my unwanted visitors are here as well."

At that moment. An unseen force threw Susanna, Thantalus, and Alex forward into the dirt. The woman lowered herself level to Thantalus looking into his eyes.

"Strange one you are Guardian, your special, one day we will meet on the field of battle. I will see you there." 

Susanna swung a fire filled fist at Detrinan and she flicked her finger and Susanna went flying, only to be caught by the Speakers power. Alex tried bringing a knife to her throat only toned up just as Susanna had. Thantalus charged his arms with lightning and it arced all around him. She simply snapped and the lightning died away and dissipated. Thantalus stood in shock. No being should have been able to do that, it was impossible.
She laughed as she rose back to her original position. The Speaker swung his arm in a sideways arc hurtling a blade of light at Death she she reeled away to dodge it. She looked pissed and instead of retaliating she scoffed and turned around and created a portal which she and the two Colossus passed through and disappeared.

The Speaker was still above all the Guardians, with a dangerous tone,

"The time is upon us Guardians, we must strike back."
