Short But Informative Biography

Minerva McGonagall is most everyone's favourite Hogwarts professor. Head of Gryffindor house, Quidditch match commentator supervisor, Deputy Headmistress, transfiguration professor and signature witch-hat bearer, she is iconic and influential. She has been helping and in charge of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley and countless other students who attended Hogwarts since their first time entering the fascinating, enchanted castle doors. Literally, because she introduced them to the different houses at Hogwarts: Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin. She led Harry and all his fellow students into the great hall, called their names for the Sorting Ceremony. She had be doing this for countless generations, even when Harry's parents had first come to Hogwarts. She was first introduced to us a a shape-shifting cat woman. She helped deliver Harry safely to his family's doorstep, right after Lily and James had died and after Hagrid delivered the sleeping legend to-be. In Harry's first year at Hogwarts, she was most remembered for placing him, Hermione, Neville and Draco Malfoy in detention and taking away 150 house points from Gryffindor, and placing a transfiguration enchantment on the humongous wizard chess game guard the Philosopher's Stone. Before the trio went searching for the legendary stone, she told them not to and not to speak of it. She also was outraged and surprised when Harry and Ron had turned out to save Hermione from the mountain troll. She took away and awarded them points. Second year, Harry and Ron crash-landed into Hogwarts in the flying Ford Angelia. Minerva banned them from participating in the welcoming feast, and gave them detention. It wasn't very harsh, but things got much more gruesome as she had to promote rules such as no students out of their dormitories after six o'clock in the evening, and each class had to be accompanied to their next lesson by a teacher, due to the attacks on students. Finally, when Ginny Weasley was taken into the Chamber of Secrets itself, she hadn't a clue what to do. Her student was gone forever, until Harry and Ron showed up with her, as Minerva was talking with and comforting Mrs. Weasley. Third year was terrible, with dementors everywhere, and Sirius Black on the loose. It sucked most of the happiness, joy and sense of security out of the castle, but Minerva had to stay calm as to assure the safety and worried thoughts of all Gryffindor house. When Harry couldn't turn in his permission slip for Hogsmeade Village trips bearing a signature, she had to say no to him for going. She felt bad and slightly guilty for hiding the truth (which Harry already knew) from him as well. When she came to The Three Broomsticks with Hagrid, Professor Flitwick and the Minister for Magic (Cornelius Fudge) to discuss "mass-murderer" Sirius Black's story, she had no idea Harry, Hermione and Ron listened in to the whole conversation. When Gryffindor won the Quidditch Cup, there was an ongoing party in the common room, which she had to show up to at 2:00am to tell them to go to bed. Not long after, she banished Neville from Hogsmeade trips, knowing the Gryffindor tower password and not to mention gave him a while ton of detentions for the rest of the school year. She also accompanied a terrified Ron to Dumbledore's office. Next we heard from her was trying to quiet down Severus Snape as he threw a fit about Harry helping Sirius Black escape. The Minister for Magic wasn't too pleased either. Next, fourth year. When the Quidditch World Cup disaster came into play, security was tightened extremely on the castle. But, when the champions for the Triwizard Tournament were picked and Harry's name came out, there was nothing Minerva could do to help ensure his safety and protection throughout the year. Most thought Harry was lying about not putting his name in the Goblet of Fire, but she could not be certain, though mostly convinced Harry was indeed telling the truth. She kept order and discipline high on her list of priorities, making sure the Weasley twins successfully transfigured their raccoons. Unfortunately, she also had to stop the glorious part in the story with Draco being turned into a ferret by professor Moody. Too bad, he made a great ferret. When demonstrating a dance for the Yule Ball, she used Ron as an example, and they waltzed around the room. When Harry didn't know he had to choose a partner for the dance, she coldly reminded him, seeing as him being a reckless fourteen-year-old boy and not liking to pay close attention to her lessons in class. The Yule Ball came quickly and she danced with several different partners, including Albus Dumbledore. Finally, she helped figure out Barty Crouch Jr. and save Harry from an ill-fated run-in with their deceptive Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher/Death Eater in disguise. She fetched Winky the House-Elf and Sirius in dog form. The Order of the Phoenix was once again engaged. She attended meetings over the summer, and wasn't prepared (no one else was either) for the sudden appearance of their newly-appointed DADA professor, Dolores Umbridge. She constantly argued (even publicly) with her and continuously warned Harry about upsetting her. When Harry and the twins were banned from the Gryffindor Quidditch team, and Dumbledore's Army was found out, she stood her post and protected her students but disagreeing firmly with Dolores. After the twins left and left their mess in the corridors of Hogwarts, Minerva made no attempt to help clean up or aid Umbridge in any way. She even found ways to communicate with students by finding loop holes in the Ministry degrees put up every day. She even went so far as to tell Peeves that the chandelier "unscrews the other way". Unfortunately, when Umbridge attempted to have Hagrid arrested during the middle of the night and the fifth years' Astronomy exam, she was shot by a bunch of stunning spells and had to be taken to St. Mungo's. She later returned at the end of the school year, forcing Crabbe and Goyle to bring her bags and luggage into her office and awarding Gryffindor house with several house points! He next year at Hogwarts was bleak and grim, with darkness, evil and (let's not forget) love/romance in the air everywhere. It was constant switching between Order of the Phoenix meetings and teaching at Hogwarts. She secured Harry and Ron with a potions class instead of a free period as well. When Katie Bell was cursed, she firstly examined the cursed necklace, only to pass it over to Snape to examine. She was shocked but Harry's direct accusations for Malfoy being behind all the accidents occurring. As the Death Eaters invaded Hogwarts (led by Malfoy), she told Flitwick to run down to the dungeons to warn Snape. Which was a somewhat mistake. When death came knocking at Dumbledore's door, she was shocked and surprised beyond human knowledge. She vowed to protect and help the school so they could keep Dumbledore as a distant, happy memory. When Harry and his comrades didn't return for their final year of education at Hogwarts, she tried to help him, by protecting the innocent students forced to be tortured mindlessly by the cruel Death Eaters-turned professors that now roamed the Hogwarts halls dangerously. When the trio returned, several dark months later, she defeated the Snape and the Carrows, and provided a distraction and time for Harry, securing the castle. She fought many Death Eaters, and even Voldemort himself at one point. They eventually defeated him and in later years, continued teaching at Hogwarts and eventually becoming Headmistress.

In a situation, does Minerva need to be rescued, or can she rescue herself?

When she was attached outside Hagrid's cabin, she was stunned into a coma, though helped by the St. Mungo's healers. She was helped by others.

When Death Eaters invaded Hogwarts and attacked, she bravely defended herself and the students, alongside some of Harry's friends. She helped herself and others.

When you have a duel with one witch versus one witch and two wizards, guess who's gonna win? The one witch, a.k.a. Minerva McGonagall.

When more Death Eaters, Giants and giant spiders invade your home (a.k.a. Hogwarts) you're gonna defend it and live to tell the tale right? Minerva could.

When the biggest threat every known to mankind (or, in this case, Wizardkind) is right across from you and you're battling him with two of your closest friends, you're all gonna win. Except the threat. Moldy Voldy can tell you all about that. 100 brownie points Minerva McGonagall.

Srsly, there's no question to what classification she needs. PRETTY KICK-BUTT YEAHMAN.
