(Ash)
"Come on Ash you can do it!" Gary shouted from the sidelines. I took a deep breath and looked over to the goalkeeper standing between the posts.
"If you score this, you can all go in early Ketchum" My gym teacher said. He was the one in the goal, coincidently. I concentrated and where I should kick the ball, blocking out the cheers of encouragement from the others.
Taking three steps back, I looked over at the right corner. My teacher caught my gaze and seemed ready to go, so I took a big step forward. As I kicked the ball, the gym teacher followed my gaze and went to the right side, but I struck the ball so it went into the left corner. Everyone charged at me like it was a cup final, being glad we could go five minutes early to lunch.
"Ok, guys" Our teacher spoke casually for once, a little grin on his face "Class dismissed" The words we all wanted to hear had been spoke, so we all sprinted away.
After getting changed, we headed to the cafeteria. Serena was already sat down, with a textbook in her face. I ignored the counter and slid into a seat next to her. I leaned in and looked at the textbook, then back to her concentrating face.
"What's up?" I asked, trying to get her attention.
She slowly finished her line and looked up at me, my face hovering over the side of the book.
"I'm fine. I just got here early so I decided to carry on my studying" Serena explained, closing the textbook. She suddenly smiled and it stunned me a little. Her smile was always dazzling and made me freeze up for a few seconds. She laughed as I stared awkwardly at her. I felt my cheeks heat up as I looked away, a little embarrassed.
"Studying? Already?" I said, trying to avoid the embarrassing moment I just had.
"Yeah" Serena's face became a serious looking frown "You haven't started preparing for the finals in the summer semester?"
It was January and we had literally just passed our first set of exams, which I only just got through.
"Erm, no" I simply replied, with the straightest face.
"You should, Ash. If you really want to get the highest grades possible" Serena advised me, sound like my Mom.
"Ok, ok. If it makes you feel happier" I smiled, giving Serena a gentle kiss on the lips. "Let me go grab my lunch"
"Kay" Serena turned back to her textbook just as the other girls arrived. I headed over to the queue to get my food.
After school had ended, I contemplated Serena's words. I wasn't really sure if I should study to try and get the grades and stuff that I needed to follow on with Serena. The whole thing made feel frustrated, but I knew it was too early to be thinking so hard. I got up from my bed after blocking out the thoughts and moved over to the window. Calem and Gary were walking into my garden as if on cue. I raced downstairs and opened the door just as Calem went to knock on it. He tripped over the front step and went flying across the corridor. He just managed to keep his balance, while Gary stared for a moment in surprise. He then walked in, bursting out laughing. Calem walked up to me with an angry face and poked me on the chest with force.
