(Ash)

Another boring day at home. The first three days were bad enough, but I still had ten more after this. The thought of spending ten more days at home with mediocre TV channels actually made me study hard. I had done more work in the three days then last week, which felt good because I could finally work hard for once. But this day felt boring, I didn't want to do anything. I got up and went through my usual morning and decided to head out to find something to do. On my way through the streets I just had to see him walking my way. Kevin. He glared at me as we passed each other. I turned my head around and he did the same, still watching me go. I turned away and ignored him, continuing down the street. It looked to me like we still had unfinished business.

I spent a few hours hanging around in the arcade, just spending countless amounts of dollars on the same game to pass time. I then headed over to the shop and bought a load of junk food and drinks, before heading over to the school gates to wait for Serena. There was atleast one hour to kill before school was over, so I sat down on the nearest bench and waited. Of course, Kevin was at the opposite side, glaring at me once more. I could see his gaze out of the corner of my eye and it was starting to piss me off. I calmly placed my bag on the bench and stood up, facing Kevin.

"Is there a problem?" I gave him a blank expression as I stared into his scowling face.

"Do I really need to explain the problem when it is right infront of me?" Kevin retorted, still scowling. I noticed he had a fist clenched.

"That's funny coming from the one causing all the problems" I laughed, sitting back down.

"You want to say that to my face?" Kevin challenged me, so I instantly got back up.

"Sure" I shrugged, walking over to him. He waited until I came close, our faces almost touching. "You're causing all the problems"

Kevin didn't even move, he continued to stare at me, silence filling the air. I felt an arm hook round mine and pull. I turned to see Serena looking up at me.

"There's no point in doing anything stupid" She said.

"I hadn't planned on that" I turned around and walked back over to the bench with Serena. As I turned back, Sarah was making Kevin move, literally dragging him with her. He turned back with one last scowl, before turning the corner. I grabbed my carrier bag and walked along with Serena.

"What was that about, Ash?" She asked me as we continued up the street.

"Nothing, don't worry about it" I lied. It wasn't anything major but the fact he was challenging me suggested Kevin was angry, but he wanted me to be provoked.

"Well, just don't do anything stupid, you have already been suspended" Serena was beginning to worry, so I smiled in order to reassure her.

"Don't worry about me. I'll be fine" I looked up and thought back to my conversation with Sarah. Something else didn't seem right about her. Why would she just say yes to Kevin in her state, even if she did like him? I just couldn't believe it, meaning I needed more answers.

"I'll take your word for it" Serena slowed down our walk, so she could gently rest her head on the corner of my shoulder. "What's with the bag of food and drinks?"

"Oh, yeah" I laughed nervously. "I was going to come to your house and thought we could maybe watch a movie or two, so I grabbed some snacks"

"That sounds great. We haven't watched a movie together in ages!" Serena smiled with excitement, but then pulled a straight face. "Only if I can pick the film"

"Sure, pick anything you wish" I gave in straight-away, to avoid any arguments.

"Great!" She clapped her hands in excitement and suddenly picked up the pace. I was forced to walk faster to keep up with her. We arrived at her house and she unlocked the door, walking in. I followed inside and closed the door. Then, I took my shoes off and sat down on the sofa, placing the carrier bag on the floor. Serena rushed upstairs and picked up her laptop.

"Cilan has been getting me into anime recently, so we will watch this film I saw last week" She then crouched down and set up her laptop so the screen was projected onto her TV. The film started with the usual Japanese opening.

"I love this film.." Serena whispered excitedly, cuddling up to me. I relaxed into the sofa and kept my eyes on the screen. We watched the film while eating various snacks and drinking a variety of milkshakes. It was an interesting film, being the first anime-based thing I have ever watched. Something about a guild fighting someone with a phoenix or something, I didn't quite grasp the story.

Once the film had ended, I noticed Serena had already gone to her usual habit of falling asleep. I didn't want to wake her because she looked beautiful in her sleep and so relaxed, I would feel bad waking her up. I decided to sit and wait for her Mom to get home and let Serena sleep. As soon as Grace arrived, Serena jumped up, completely awake.

"S-sorry, Ash!" She said, nervously apologizing. I noticed she was blushing and smiled.

"It's ok, I didn't want to wake you so I had no choice but to let you lie on me" I got up, stretching up from the sofa. I must've been sat down for hours, because my muscles ached. "I will see you tomorrow"

"See you tomorrow Ash!" Serena waved as I moved past Grace. I nodded politely to her and then left their house, heading down to my own. My Mom must be home by now.

The Next Day

I decided to turn up to the school gates a little later and the same exact thing happened. Kevin was staring at me, with a scowl on his face.

"Are you going to be like this all the time, because it is really putting me off" I said, keeping the corner of my eye fixed on Kevin. He looked away and didn't answer. I shrugged and got up from the bench, standing next to the large gate. Kevin turned to me again and took a few steps forward.

"You said I am the problem Ash, but you're the one that causes pain and suffering for everyone. This school would have been better if you never joined!" Kevin suddenly shouted. I already knew he was clearly trying to provoke me.

"I know what you're trying to do, but it won't work" I said simply, folding my arms. I casually took a glance away and pissed him off. I could hear him growling under his breath like some wild animal.

"I am not trying to do anything, besides prove to you how much of a waste of space you are" Kevin's tone had died down and he sounded less serious. I felt my hand unconsciously twitch in anger, but I ignored the violent feelings.

"Keep talking, because that's all you are Kevin" I ignored his comments and continued to look away. I felt a fist grab my jacket as Kevin lifted me off the bench and pinned me against the fence.

"Don't tell me what to do" Bits of saliva hit me in the face with each word.

"Can you learn to not spit when you talk, that is really not hygienic" I frowned as Kevin let me go. Of course, once again, Sarah and Serena showed up just before Kevin lashed out. But something was different this time. Kevin still tried to go for me, despite Sarah grabbing his arm. I had no choice but to duck out of the way, making Kevin land into the fence. Sarah grabbing his arm made it easier for him to stop, but his face now felt cold against the fence.

"Lets go, Serena" I looked away in anger and headed down the pavement. I turned back to see Serena look around awkwardly, before suddenly following down the pavement. I knew Kevin would try something else.

What a bastard.
