I don't quite know what I felt. But something was wrong. I'd seen a suspicious guy at Mae's house when I left and the next day, I saw Dawn and her on the news talking about their house burning down.
I should tell the police, but I'm not sure it was anything... so I'll keep quiet for now.
I wonder who they're staying with? It'd be nice if they were closer to me.
Why was I thinking about Dawn so much? She was just an old friend.
Really though? Was she just an old friend... or did I like her? That's a childish word. Like. No, I'd call it warming up to someone. I suppose she did catch my attention....
"Lincoln! Make some eggs for breakfast!" Alisha shouted from upstairs.
"No. I can't. I have to get to training." Alisha got on my nerves. She thought she was all that. "Sorry, you're going to have to quit being lazy and do something for yourself."
She stormed in the room. "Lincoln! Don't be such a jerk! I need respect I'm not just-"
"You know what. Stop talking. Im done with your crap. You never do anything yourself, you expect me to run your life, and you're living in my house." I paused. "Actually- not anymore. I'm breaking up with you. It's over. Get your stuff and be gone before I get back."
Her jaw dropped and her eyebrows mushed together as she grimaced. "What!!? You can't do that! What we had was love Lincoln! Love doesn't just stop!" Her voice rose to a wail and dark streaks slashed her cheeks as her makeup ran.
"Well, I guess only one of us was truly feeling the love." I turned around and grabbed my workout bag, then trotted out the door and let it swing gracefully shut.
