Unexplained Disapperances

Ani POV

Beast Boy and I joked long after everyone went to bed, but when I went tried to sleep, I couldn't. To many thoughts swirled in my head.

You know what you have to do, Ani. The voice of the Animal King reminded. I often heard his voice in the silence here, but I never acknowledge it. I didn't want to, because if I did I might have to obey it.

They aren't your friends. They don't trust you. He doesn't love you back. No. I didn't believe him. He was wrong. The Titans were my my friends. I just hoped they still would be after it happened.

Many thoughts continued to haunt my troubled sleep that night. I often woke up claws bared, lips drawn back in a snarl, ready to attack a foe that wasn't there. I curled back up in the blankets until sleep took me for the night.

When I woke in the morning, it was to the delicious smell of sausages cooking on the stove. I hurried out of bed, still dressed in my brand new wolf pajamas. I stumbled into the living room, following the amazing scent. I found the rest of the Titans, also in their pajamas, practically drooling over the sausages roasting in the pan on the stove. Well, all of them except Beast Boy, who was cooking it. He seemed to be completely unaware of the meaty scent.

In fact, he seemed almost repelled by it. My mouth watered as I joined the others waiting for the food to be finished.

After we finished stuffing ourselves, I talked to Beast Boy some more while dominating in Extreme Racers.

"... and that's why I don't eat meat. I just feel like I'm being a cannibal when I do. Hey that reminds me of a super funny joke! What did the cannibal do after he dumped his girlfriend?" Beast Boy asked.

"I don't even have a clue. What did he do?" I questioned.

"He wiped his butt! Get it? Because he ate her, and the he po-" he replied.

I interrupted Beast Boy's explanation with my laughter. He was hilarious!

"You really think I'm funny?" he wondered.

"Yeah, BB, you're hilarious. I wish I could think of jokes like that!"

We spent the rest of the day playing video games, watching TV, and cracking jokes. I'm pretty sure that Cyborg was a little jealous of the amount of time that I had spent with Beast Boy, but I didn't really care. Anytime I could spend with Beast Boy was worth almost any cost. Almost.

I had decided to ask Beast Boy about how he felt about me before I went to bed.

"You mean, do I love you? I'm sorry Ani, but I have feelings for another girl. I'm really sorry, and I hope this won't make our friendship awkward." I smiled, trying hard not to show how much it hurt. I quickly said goodbye and hurried to my room.

I spent that night with more nightmares and voices.

When I finally woke up, I realized their wasn't a delicious smell of meat. Or any voices. I checked my clock, wondering why I had woken up. It was four in the morning! Why was I awake?

I listened, thinking maybe that a noise had woken me up. There! I heard someone moving stealthily in the hallway outside my door. I got out of my bed as quietly as I could, slinking closer and closer to the door. I opened it as quietly as I could, but the woosh sound it made still startled me.

I looked up and down the hallway, but saw no one. They must have heard me coming. I walked to Beast Boy's room to see if he was awake. He wasn't there! Where could he possibly be at four in the morning? I looked around at they other Titans doors, looking for anything wrong.

At last, I found a door that was slightly ajar. Emily's. I opened the door the rest of the way, only to find her room intact but completely abandoned. So that's who Beats Boy had feelings for. He must have asked her out to a date or a dance or something while the rest of us were asleep.

With my enhanced nose, I could almost see the trail left by them. I was going to follow this, and put an end to whatever had been going on here.
