JESS POV:
Coming to Australia has hands down been the best experience of my life so far. I still remember the day I decided I wanted to come over here when I was back home in the United States. I've always wanted to travel the world, and what better place to start than beautiful Sydney? The first 2 weeks here were a little rough just because I wasn't used to living in a hostel. That was until my best friend Jenn came here from the UK. We've both been here for about 3 months now, but the super cool thing is that we just got an apartment together a few weeks back which means no more hostels, couch surfing, or room renting! Everything was going great.
Except, here I am, running late to my shift.
I work at this super cool, local, low key coffee shop called Brookstone. The whole place is brick, and has red plush chairs, high tables, locally made art on the walls, and a whole vinyl and record player section in the back corner. Although it's small, my co-workers are like family and the coziness of the atmosphere and coffee aroma make it hard to hate my job. Until today.
"Jess I need to see you in the back, now!" my boss yelled as I walked in 15 minutes late.
Usually he's in the best mood ever, but inventory was off pretty bad last night. Long story short I ended up cleaning every inch of the place. When I finally got put back behind the counter I messed up the first order I was suppose to make, so I got moved to the register. Things were finally going fine, that is until the morning rush came in.
"Jess kick it into high gear!" I heard my manager yell behind me. One can only go so fast.
I started putting the cash from my previous customer away when I dropped it all over the floor. "Shit," I said under my breath.
Little did I know The next customer that came up would change my life forever.
I picked up the change from the ground and sighed heavily as I put it all back in the register. I looked up just in time to lock my eyes with a pair of green ones staring back at me.
Wow he's cute.
Even though I was frustrated from everything that happened so far today, as cool as I possibly could I said, "Hi um welcome to Brookstone, what can we make you today?"
Oh God, stay calm.
He replied, "Hmm, I'll take a venti iced mocha with a side of this cute cashier taking a deep breath," smiling shyly, "my name is Michael."
I can honestly say for the first time in my life I was speechless. I got so lost in his green eyes that perfectly complimented his black hair and slightly scruffy face. His hair was messy and he was wearing a dark green 'NOFX' shirt with black skinny jeans and converse. He had tattoos, his eyebrow pierced, and was wearing quite a few bracelets on one arm.
I could feel my face getting warm and red, "Oh, right. Um. Well Hi. My name is Jess. Nice to meet you sir."
Yeah I came back with sir, like he was my grandpa or something.
"Well Jess, ma'am," he smirked "how much do I owe you?"
I think he knew I was starting to stare in awe because he winked at me and gestured towards his coffee that was now sitting in front of him.
"Oh. The coffee right, that'll be $5.97" I said shyly
"Thank you," he said staring into my eyes. "I hope to see you around, Jess. Oh and keep your head up the day will get better." He winked again and walked out.
I stood there like an idiot in shock. One of my co-workers came up to me and said, "Um Jess you know who that was right?"
"No... was I suppose to?" I asked
"That was Michael. Michael Clifford from the local band 5 Seconds of Summer," she started to say. "They just got back from touring with One Direction a couple weeks ago and are working on their own album now."
"No wonder I'm speechless," I said as we both giggled.
5 Seconds of Summer! That's why he looked so familiar. I wasn't a super fan or anything but I knew exactly who they were. My roommate Bekah back in the U.S. was a huge One Direction fan so i've heard a few of their songs.

When I got home later that day I ran up to Jenn.
"Jenn seriously I don't think i've ever been so attracted to someone so fast," I said after I explained to her what happened at work earlier.
"Jess.. Michael Clifford. I don't want you to get your hopes up you know they're just going to keep getting more famous from here," she said.
"Ughhhh. You're right. It was fun in the moment right," I sighed. "He's just so... Different. I got caught up in his eyes almost instantly."
"Come on, let's watch some Harry Potter and just have a girls night tonight, i'll order take out it's suppose to rain all night," Jenn replied trying to comfort me.
"Yeah sounds good it'll take my mind off of everything," I sighed.
