Jacob stumbled through the forest, already seeing darkness start to eat the corners of his eyes. He tried to blink it away, calling through the woods and hoping someone would hear.
"Dude, what are you doing?"
Jacob looked over in relief at Colby and James.
Colby suddenly noticed the large blood stain that continued to travel up his sleeve.
"What the hell happened? Just what kind of creature are they making us hunt?" Colby yelled, slowly rolling up Jacob's sleeve to see the damage. "Wait, where's Kira?" he asked, looking up at Jacob.
"Demon," Jacob panted, cursing when Colby revealed the wound.
"Did you just say demon?" James asked.
"After we fought the golem... and got the paper..."
"A golem! That's what we were supposed to find!" Colby exclaimed, momentarily forgetting the situation.
Jacob glared. "He took Kira."
"The golem?" Colby asked confused, taking out his switchblade and cutting a strip of Jacob's jacket off.
"No! The demon!" Jacob groaned, frustrated.
"Why would a demon take her?"
"I don't know," Jacob said, crying out as Colby tightened the strap of cloth around the wound. "Damn it!"
"Don't want you to bleed to death," Colby said. "So, Kira is still alive, right?"
"As far as I know," Jacob said. "I don't know what he wants with her."
"If he wanted to kill her, she would be dead."
"But what if he does something worse?" Jacob asked.
"Calm down, we will ask Aaron what they want with her," Colby said, steadying Jacob as they started to walk. "We will make him tell us what is going on. Hell, you got hurt so I think it's time we know something, right?"
Jacob nodded, feeling his eyes droop. Without warning, the dark corners suddenly filled Jacob's vision and he started to fall forward.
"Woah!" Colby said, struggling to hold up Jacob's weight long enough to gently lay him on the ground. Colby looked up at James. "A little help here?"
James easily flung Jacob over his shoulder.
"Hey! Take it a little easy there!" Colby huffed.
James shrugged. "It's fine."
Colby rolled his eyes and they quickly made their way back towards the school.
"I never thought you two would be the second ones done!" Aaron laughed as he saw Colby walk through the trees. He instantly stopped laughing once he noticed James was carrying Jacob.
Aaron's eyes widened in fear and he instantly straightened up. "Where's Kira?"
Colby frowned. "From what I got before Jacob passed out, some demon got her."
Aaron looked like he had stopped breathing for a moment. He let out a shaky breath. "How is Jacob?"
"Broken arm that broke through the skin. With a little medical attention he should be fine," Colby said.
Aaron nodded. "Good. Now, I have to immediately go tell my father what happened."
"We will take Jacob to the infirmary."
James and Colby quickly went to the small clinic that was on campus. A nurse with brown hair in a tight bun quickly unwrapped the arm to look at it.
