When Kira had first opened her eyes, memories of both past and present swirled around in a messy jumble. What was real? What was fake? Her mind continued to try to grasp onto what was reality, until all memories of the present were suddenly flung away and the only reality she knew was the one she was in now.
Kira quickly sat up, looking around.
"Lana!" Kira shouted, pulling the small girl who sat next to her into her arms.
"What is it?" Lana asked, her innocent eyes looking up at Kira.
"I... I don't know. It just feels like it's been a long time since I've seen you," Kira stated slowly.
"Silly," Lana giggled, accepting Kira's embrace. "I've been here the whole time."
Kira smiled slightly and continued to hold Lana to her chest, fearing that if she let go she wouldn't see her again. Kira stared forward, wondering why the place seemed new to her once again. Why did it feel as if it had been ages since she was here?
A door being open made Kira flinch. New costumers, she assumed. She still couldn't quiet fathom the idea that there were people out there who would pay to release their frustrations by making innocent people bleed. Some people come in here and pick one that looks like someone they know. Someone they would rather beat up but didn't want the charges against them.
Every person who sat in these cages had scars that covered their body from a beating they didn't deserve. Well, everyone except Lana. And Kira would make sure it stayed that way.
An overweight man that everybody knew in this place walked in, a gentleman-looking guy following right behind.
"Might I suggest that one?" the bigger man asked, gesturing towards Kira.
Kira glared hard over at them, not wanting to show how afraid she really was.
"No, there's too much defiant in her eyes. I don't' want someone who will fight back," the man stated simply, as if he was looking to buy furniture.
"Ah, but that's the best part. No matter how tough she looks, she won't fight back. That girl over there with her? That's her sister. And she will do anything to protect her little sister, even if it means doing whatever we want."
"Alright then," the man smiled. "How much?"
Aaron watched in horror as the two men began to bargain. "This can't be real. This couldn't have actually happened. There are people like that in the world?"
"It's amazing how much you see when you watch millions of people's memories," the dream eater sighed.
"I can't believe this... when did this happen, I wonder?" Aaron asked absentmindedly. It had to be before she was a demon, otherwise she could easily bust out. But she had the necklace around her neck. But so did the little girl next to her. So what was going on? Aaron had a million questions.
Suddenly the men opened the cage Kira was in and started to haul her to the room Aaron was just in. Her sister screamed from the cage to let her go, but they obviously didn't care. The bigger man then left, going off into another room that looked like an office.
The dream eater smiled and started to follow. He paused when he noticed Aaron was not following. He smirked. "What's the matter? You don't want to see the show?"
Aaron shook his head, still numb from the situation.
The dream eater chuckled. "I'll let you know if you miss anything good."
Aaron sat against the wall, covering his ears. It was almost as much of a nightmare for him. Kira's sister was crying uncontrollably and Kira's screams could easily be heard through the thick metal wall.
