Hey Shia.

Finally, today was the day we've all been excited for. Everyone got invited to a former co-worker of ours' party. He goes by the name Shia. And he is the chillest guy we know. It's probably the weed.

But today happened to be his party. Everyone was going, and I was surprised I was even invited. I shouldn't be though, since we were friends. But, hey, I was never the party person. And yet, I was so ready. So was Paulina.

I had just drove up to the airport and parked next to Terminal Five, by the entrance to Air France. A few of my colleagues were out, waiting for the bus that took us to the parking lot. Paulina was with them, and once she saw me, she smiled and hopped into the car. I turned down the radio so I could actually catch what she was saying.

"We just need to buy the booze." she smiled.

I turned away from the terminal and drove down, headed for the highway. The sky was a grand dark blue with a few stars sparkling down at us.

"Jewel, yeah?" I asked.

"Mhm,"

She plugged the AUX cord into her phone and Calvin Harris started playing around us.

**

The music was soft around us, a Drake song, of course a choosing of Shia's. He can't go a day without Drake. I guess he invited everyone from work, and more. There were more people that I recognized than people I didn't. But even the people that I didn't seemed friendly.

Paulina was next to me, smiling down. I was at least a foot shorter than her. Shia had approached us, his eyes drooping and the biggest smile played on his face. He was a few inches taller than Paulina, which made me the shortest person these guys' knew. To look up at him hurt my neck, but it was worth it.

"Hey girls, I've missed you!" you can smell the liquor on his breath.

He hugged Paulina first than leaned in a little to reach me. I got on my tip toes and hugged him back, feeling his arms wrap around me. He pulled away and went back to the garage which was where the party was essentially happening. A bunch of people were inside sitting on the couches or the bar chairs. A table was spread out in the backyard and a few people were around it playing beer pong.

"Lena, what's up?" a friend of ours, Caleb said.

He was at the ping pong table with a few others I knew. I smiled back at him.

"Nothing much," and walked into the garage with Paulina.

I caught sight of Ruby, and my heart started to race. She was one of my best friends and it was always awesome to see her. She was standing with a few guys, laughing at what one of them had said. Paulina was already with the group, smiling a hello.

I ran up to Ruby, hugging her with all I had. I slammed into her, feeling her straighten up and hug me back. She squeezed me back, almost making a rib break off of my cage. I laughed and pulled away, smiling at her.

"RUBY!" I smiled.

"LENA!" she yelled back, laughing at how ridiculous I was being.

"Ready to get fucked up?" I asked.

"Dude, I'm already there. I drank bourbon at work." she laughed.

Paulina stepped up to us, laughing along. She must have heard Ruby.

"Here you go," she handed me a red plastic cup.

I looked inside and saw orange liquid swimming in the cup, the scent of vodka flooded my nose. I looked up at her and smiled.
