After that night, the next week was quite interesting. Of course I told Ruby and Paulina what happened. I even told Colin when I went back into the bar, and he high-fived me. And he didn't remember. Or, for all I know.
I came into work the next day, and Vlad was all smiles and gushy and I wanted to vomit. I wasn't one for feelings even though I had a lot of them. It might have been the commitment issues.
I have managed to keep the making-out under wraps. Paulina and Ruby understood and kept hushed. It was something people shouldn't know about. Because we were a small group of co-workers and I really didn't need it to be spun out of control... especially since my friends Serena and Anna shipped Vlad and I. I have no idea where they got the idea. Until now of course.
And the following days, Ruby came into work.
The office was pretty empty because everyone who was working were outside in the lobby, checking in passengers for our flights. I was in the kitchen area with Katie and Serena. Ruby had walked in with music blasting from her headphones. She was my height and very tan. Must have been all the yard work she was doing over the weekend.
Serena was by her locker. We had lockers between the small kitchen area and office area, it divided the spaces. She was super cute and extremely nice. But, she can be bitchy, that's why I loved her. Katie was sitting at the glass table, working on her homework.
"Hey girl!" I smiled to Ruby and wrapped my arms around her, enjoying the warmth she gave out. She was my personal heater to be honest.
And that's when she started to laugh as she hugged me, so I pulled away, confusion lining my face.
"I cannot believe you made out with Vlad!" she burst out in between laughs.
I felt my cheeks get red as my whole body got hot. I could feel Serena stare at us. Looking at her, her literal jaw dropped and Katie had looked up from her homework with wide eyes.
"RUBY." I huffed. "DUDE."
"Well, they would have found out, why keep it secret? Lena, you made out with Vlad!" she cackled.
"What?" Serena asked, flabbergasted.
I took in a deep breath as my anxiety spiked. I couldn't help but laugh along with Ruby.
"Yes, I did. Now we good?" I glanced at Ruby.
She couldn't breathe.
"When? What?" Serena went on.
"This weekend... I'm going to check in-BYE!"
I rushed out of this office and into the lobby, catching sight of my best friend, the giraffe height beauty Paulina. She was at the first class counter. As I approached, she caught sight of me and waggled her eyebrows.
"Ruby told the whole office I made out with Vlad." I said.
"What?" her jaw dropped. "Why?"
"I don't fucking know, and I don't know if I'm mad or... God sakes Paula."
I went back to work with the rest of the co-workers. It was pretty dead because most passengers had checked-in. Calvin was next to me, cracking jokes.
He was the jokester of the group, the guy that no one could hate. He was dating a girl that worked with us, she was my friend too, I guess. She was on his other side, smiling as she listened to him talk. I could say I shipped them until they dated. And then it died. No one liked that they were together. She was a church goer-good girl, and he was a laid back guy. They worked, I'm not saying they didn't. It's just weird. They don't act like a couple at all.
Probably cause they are working and keeping it professional.
But you know what? It didn't matter what we all thought. It's their relationship, not ours. So fuck that.
"Hey Taylor, calm your boyfriend down... we look unprofessional." I smiled at her.
She smirked up at Calvin and he laughed. "Okay, I feel the love guys."
"Calvin... you know we love you!" I teased.
"Can I tell Anna?" Serena said from behind me.
My stomach jumped to my throat. I turned on my heel and faced her. Her blue eyes were wide with anticipation as she smiled down at me.
"No," I said.
"Come on Lena, I have to tell her."
"I think enough people know."
"Know what?" Taylor asked from Calvin's side.
Her voice was as innocent as you'd imagine, oh Taylor. I ignored her and faced Serena. She was giving me the puppy dog look and I imagined Vlad in the bag room, seething with anger.
"Fine, go ahead." I gave up.
"YES!" she smiled in victory and skipped her way down the counters to the last one where blonde haired Anna stood, glaring at her computer screen.
"I fucked up, didn't I?" I had asked myself.
An hour went by and I was at the gate with Anna. We had started taking care of the flight and now we were waiting for clearance to board from our supervisor Barbara. The gate was full of people sitting around, waiting to fly to Paris. The walkie next to Anna went off with the ramp agents talking among each other about loading the containers onto the plane.
"I think it's really shitty that Ruby told everyone without your consent." Anna told me.
She was a very honest person. She never lied and was always blunt with you. Yes, Anna came off mad and narcissistic at times... all the time, but that's what made you love her, because she was realistic. No bullshit.
"Well yeah, but that's Ruby. I don't blame her. I just wish she didn't. I mean Vlad and I have no idea what to do with this."
"Exactly, you should've said something when you knew you could. Or nothing at all. I'm sorry dude, but that's not what friends should do."
"I know." I agreed, "But I can't be mad at her. It came as a shock to me too."
"I bet," and we left it at that.
Until a good month later. That's when she asked me out of the blue if Vlad and I were finally dating, to which I laughed and told her no. Then she had asked if I liked kissing him. My reply, we were drunk, yes of course I liked it.
Serena had joined us at the gate and whispered to me Lad. Our shipping name. It's better than Vena or Ladomir.
I shook my head at that with a smile.
No one had to know that it crushed me inside every time I thought about it. Nothing was gonna happen and I grew my feelings back for him.
We had Lizzie at the gate with us, the only person that was shorter than me that worked with us. For boarding we had Kendall, a friend that was becoming an even better friend to me on the daily. She had Boguslaw at her side.
Thankfully, we finished the flight with no problems and I could go home peacefully.
