Jada

I wake up feeling light headed and tired. I groan loudly, my eyes having trouble adjusting to the room I'm in.

I blink a few times, the bright light of a lamp next to me making me slightly sick. I'm in my room with the door wide open as if someone had to escape rapidly, and just left the evidence quite easy to find.

I yawn with a stretch. What happened after I took that pill? I shake my head to try to get rid of the dizziness.

"Jada?"  Someone calls and I flinch, sitting up very slowly.

I look around, confused.

"Who's calling?" I ask, irritated.

If this is some type of joke, it's not funny.

"Jada?!"  It calls again.

It sounds like a boy.  It sounds just like Austin, my partner... but how can that be? He couldn't have... somehow managed to get trapped into my head...?

"Austin?"  I call.

"Jada! I can talk to you through your mind! Answer me!"

My mouth drops. How can he do that? How did he know we could do that...? This isn't making sense, did the scientists talk to him? Did he somehow figure this out?

"Austin?"

"Hey! You're awake!"  He states happily.

"Um... yeah... it's not like this is weird or anything.... But how did I get here? I passed out in a lab. How can we do this?" I ask, just as many questions start popping into my head, filling my brain.

"I don't know... I think the others can do this too," he answers nervously.

"That would be cool," I mumble as things start getting awkward.

"Ha, yeah...."

We're silent for a while, until Austin—thank God—speaks up again.

"So... Where are you?"

"My room it looks like."

Austin laughs, which sounds weird in my head.

"What?"  I ask.

"So, you don't know what your room looks like?"

I roll my eyes, deciding not to respond and Austin chuckles again, making my brain feel like it's shaking.

"Alright, alright hold on," Austin mumbles and I can tell he's smiling while doing so.

"Wait, you know where it is?"  I ask.

"Yes, the scientists told us everything... Almost." Austin responds tensely, and I squint my eyes at the ceiling.

Something weird is going on, and I don't like how all of this is turning out. Am I even ready to exit this room? I don't feel as though I'm myself... I don't feel... Ready.

We're both silent again, and moment or two later Austin comes walking in. He smiles at me, and relief floods me unexpectedly.

"Hey. You look tired," he says aloud and all I do is nod.

Austin walks over and sits next to me. I put my head in my hands, getting a slight headache. All I want to do is sleep for the rest of my life. At least sit here with some popcorn watching television, preferably with the rest of the girls, and just sleep-

"Hey wake up! Its only 3:00pm!"  Austin says, shaking my shoulders and I flinch.

"Come on we have some place to be," he continues still shaking me.

"Where?"  I ask, irritated again.

Maybe it wouldn't be so bad just to go back to civilization. Even if I have to leave all this glory. I could leave the pain behind too... I'll walk if I have to.

"The note on your door said to go to the place this all started."

"Home?" I ask, making him laugh.

"No! That science place... you know, the place where we took the pill."

I groan.

"Wait... I was just joking about the home thing," I say, pointing at him.

He raises his hands in surrender.

"Alright I believe you... Sorta," he mumbles with a smug face.

I slap his shoulder lightly and he laughs again.

"Alright, alright! Come on."

He gets up and I glare at him silently, not wanting to move and he rolls his eyes. His eyes flash a gray color before taking a step, and immediately blasting out of the room literally at lightning speed making my mouth drop.

"Austin!" I yell, fear that he hurt himself on the opposite wall.

There's no way he could have saw that coming.

At that moment, I start lifting off my bed and floating in midair, making me scream.

I watch with horror as my dark skin turns pale and cold.

Austin comes running back at lightning speed again, looking up at me as I hit the ceiling. His gray eyes turn back into his beautiful hazel ones and he watches me in pure shock.

"Your eyes are gray," he simply states and I make a face.

"They are...? Well so were yours when you blasted out of the room," I protest, slowly floating back down.

I take Austin's hand as he helps me down. I sigh when I reach the floor, my skin slowly changing back to normal and I shiver in disgust.

"I think the scientists were forgetting to say something to us, don't you think?"  Austin asks and I growl with a nod.

What else is new? I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't tell us that we had twins, and never knew about it.

"You know it," I think to him, making him smile evilly.

"I love how we can do that."

We begin to walk towards the door, and I watch Austin carefully just in case he tries to sprint away again, and I think Austin is trying to do the same thing.

He walks down the hallway slowly and carefully, holding onto the handrails on the sides of the walls and I hide my mouth under my hand so he can't see me laughing.
