"Who wants to go swimming?!" Justin yells and we all cheer again, beginning to all race to elevator, selecting our room floor as we all wait anxiously.
We all get to finally relax again. Hot tubs, diving boards... like home.
I type in my password, and practically fall into my room. I'm way too excited to think. I finally get to try out the pool, I get to relax, I'll be in control of myself soon, and these blasted eye drops will finally be released.
I walk into the closet and look around. I grab a swimsuit, setting athletic shorts on top and I walk to my desk in the corner, taking out my notebook. I try to read over all of the notes I took today.
This all has a meaning. Justin and I have somehow managed these powers, and the eye colors are warnings... but for what exactly? Air, fire, and water is all that I know of... and everything is controlled by emotions. But that's just for Justin and me! Everybody else is random! How could all of this be accomplished in a few days? I didn't know. But something else is nicking in my mind. What if the eye colors are warning me about something else entirely...? And not just the powers I'm using?
My head pounds wildly, and I shake my head. I can't get into stuff like that. I'm convinced that the pounding in my head is from over-thinking.
Soon, still staring down at the notebook, I'm about to rip my own head off when I hear the door knock.
I stand up and jog to the door, opening it only to be greeted by my friends.
"Hey...! Where are the others?" I ask, looking down the hallway.
"Already at the pool!" Lizeth answers smiling.
"Ok then! Let's go!" I say excitedly, closing the door behind me.
We walk down the bland hallways as Emily seems to be deep in thought. She's probably thinking about spray painting the hallways soon and grin lightly. I'm glad and relieved that this whole experience hasn't ruined her... Or anybody else.
We wait for the elevator, and once it opens we all walk in. I press level 3.
There's a moment of silence, until Jada starts fidgeting.
"You ok?" Gema asks.
"I think I like Austin...," she mumbles, training her eyes to the ceiling curiously.
Everybody else turns to her and gaps. I just stare at her, not knowing how to feel about that. Justin still makes me feel uncomfortable, and I'm not really good at this "Love" thing. I don't necessarily know how other people can be just be so... Sure of themselves.
But I'm not really sure if I really... want to be in love. Sure, it seems fun and adventurous, but it all seems confusing and very stressful at the same time... Justin's cute, and he makes me confused and happy inside, but I don't feel anything.... at least not yet. I really hope Justin doesn't hear that.
"Don't feel left out, I'm pretty sure I like Mike," Lizeth admits and everybody glances at Emily.
"How about you?" Nayeli asks and Emily shrugs, looking extremely uncomfortable.
I can't blame her; my friends are making a big deal out of this.
"I... I don't think I feel anything for him," she answers softly and they all glance at me.
I look down at my feet, pretending like I don't notice them. Before they can ask anything, the elevator door opens. I quickly run out of the elevator, and make my way over to the bathroom.
Once I enter I sigh loudly, resting my elbows on the counter. One more second and I would've been speechless, and annoyed. I hate it when my friends get like this... But I bet everybody does from time to time... It's an exciting moment to find out about someone liking another person... I guess. But it's not very fun for the person telling them... Especially when trust is on the line, and that person has a hard time with it.
I stand in silence, looking in the mirror. I see the bags under my eyes, and a seemingly permanent frown glisten on my face and I look over to the hand dryers and see a basket full of goggles. I sigh, taking a pair and deciding to go back out there.
My friends are sitting on the beach chairs, talking in quiet tones. I walk up to them, seeing them stop whatever they were talking about.
"What... Were you guys talking about?" I ask, sitting down next to Nayeli.
"Oh... Nothing... Where are the boys?" Emily asks, looking around.
"Right here!" I hear Justin shout as they all come running out of the bathroom, beginning to flip into the pool.
We all clap, and obviously pretend to be impressed as they pop their heads up.
"Oh! There they are!" Nayeli says, chuckling.
Scarlet and Diamond come walking through the entrance, and Mike splashes them with water. They both gasp and Diamond drops her towel.
"How dare you!" Diamond yells as Mike and Luke laugh, fist bumping.
"You're going to be in big trouble! By me...! I think!" Diamond continues and I raise an eyebrow. Gema slaps her forehead.
"Oh yeah?! You're going to have to have to come and get me! If you can ever make up your mind!" Mike yells, throwing his hands in the air and walking backwards.
Luke and Justin clap their hands over their mouths.
"He got you!" They both yell and I laugh into my hand.
Lizeth shakes her head with a smile and Diamond glares at them.
"Alright. That's it."
Scarlet just stands there, looking shocked as she shivers uselessly.
Diamond walks to the edge of the pool, turns around and does a quick backflip. We all clap again as she bursts from the water, right in front of Mike.
He screams and ducks when Diamond splashes him with water. I laugh again and Emily gets up and runs to the diving board.
"Wo!" She yells, before doing a toe-touch into the water, making Gema clap.
"That's my friend right there!"
Soon, I'm the only person who hasn't jumped in. I'm sitting on the beach chair, reading a magazine that I found on one of the tables. Justin pokes his head out of the water and swims to the edge.
He looks up at me.
"What are you doing?" He asks and I smile.
"Sitting."
He rolls his eyes.
"Come here."
"What?"
"Come here!" He says again, chuckling.
I squint my eyes, and stand up. I walk over to him and he stares at me for a while longer.
"What?" I ask again.
He raises an eyebrow and suddenly reaches out of the pool. He grabs my arm and I scream as I'm pulled in.
