Akemi's P.O.V
The sun was shining and I could hear the birds softly chirping.
I woke up and the first thing I did was was look at the bracelet Keiko bought for me yesterday. I sighed happily and jumped out of bed, went to take it off of my bedside table and immediately wore it around my right wrist.
I suddenly remembered how someone thought we were a couple yesterday, let out a small giggle at the thought and shook my head. Then I proceeded to brush my teeth and eat a delicious breakfast.
Keiko's P.O.V
I was lying around on the couch and going through the random channels on the TV, that's not unusual for me to do when I have free time, I guess I really need to find a hobby.
As I was deeply thinking of something fun to do today, the thought of Akemi suddenly popped into my head.
I smiled with wide eyes as I finally had a great idea.
Aha! I will invite Akemi to hangout with me!
I grabbed my phone, searched through my contacts until my eyes landed on her name and called her number which I got yesterday.
After a few moments she answered.
"Hello?" she quickly asked after picking up the phone.
"Hey Akemi! It's Keiko!" I said enthusiastically.
"Oh! Keiko, what's up?" she said when she heard it's me.
"I was wondering if you'd want to hang out today?" I asked her happily hoping that she would agree.
It was silent for a few seconds and I guess that she was thinking of an answer.
"Sure! That'd be fun!" I smiled hearing her say that.
"OK I'll come over!" I informed her and got my jacket.
"Alright, bye!"
"Bye!" I closed the phone call, wore my jacket, put my phone into the pocket, and went out.
I locked the door and placed the keys in my bag. Then I headed for her house.
Akemi's P.O.V
After Keiko closed the call I went to the closet to choose some clothes to wear for today. A few seconds later I grabbed a cute T-shirt with flowers on it and a pair of blue jeans. I then went to change and put on a tiny bit of makeup.
Suddenly, my phone rang almost causing me to flinch so I picked it up and answered.
"Hello?" I said quickly.
"HEY Akemi, it's Toshiro! You wanna hang out today?" he asked in a happy tone. OH... UGH What do I say? I don't wanna make him feel bad. Sigh, I guess I have no choice.
"Sorry Toshiro, I have plans for today," I said with guiltiness in my voice.
"Oh OK it's fine, see ya tomorrow!" He said and closed the call. Wait, tomorrow? Tomorrow we have school. Anyway, I went out of my thoughts and prepared to go.
I went to the living room and sat on the couch waiting for Keiko to arrive.
After a while my phone rang signaling that I had received a text.
It was from keiko and it said: I'm almost there!
I laughed and hopped off the couch and slowly walked to the door.
I grasped the handle and pulled the door open as I was immediately face to face with a fist that almost slammed into my nose.
"Whoa!" I quickly moved out of the way by ducking to the side to avoid the deadly (not really) blow.
"Hey! Pay attention to your surroundings, I almost got my nose broken!" I teased.
Keiko rolled his eyes and pulled me away from the house by the sleeve of my jacket.
"Wait, where are we going anyways?!" I asked.
Keiko laughed darkly, looked at me over his shoulder and said,"to our dark and evil lair of course."
"You mean the cafe?"
"Yup that's the one!"
Time Skip
The bells that hung above the door frame jingled as we entered the warm and cozy cafe.
There were more people than usual since the days were getting colder and colder but thankfully our usual table at the back was unoccupied.
We sat down and ordered our drinks. While we waited for our orders to arrive we mostly talked about random things.
When the waitress came back she suddenly tripped and almost spilled the drinks all over Keiko who looked terrified.
She regained her balance and placed the drinks on the table along with the desert on the table after muttering a small apology.
A memory flashed in my mind and I covered my mouth with my hand hoping to conceal the uncontrollable giggling.
Keiko looked at me weirdly and asked,"What's so funny?"
I shook my head,"Oh nothing, I just remembered the time when I spilled cold water all over you."
Keiko seemed to remember and he laughed softly,"My poor book was also soaked and I ended up getting a towel thrown at my face."
I giggled,"Yeah, sorry about that, it's just that you wouldn't stop teasing me."
"Well you did look like a tomato back then!"
"Shut up!" I said pulling at my collar since the cafe was warm.
"You're looking like a tomato right now actually!"
"Stop it," I muttered covering my cheeks.
Keiko was silent for a minute.
"You're wearing the bracelet I got you!" he stated.
I looked up,"Well yeah, it's one of the best gifts that anyone has ever gotten me."
"Well you deserve more than that, you are my... best friend after all," keiko said with a smile.
I fiddled with the chain on my wrist and smiled, but for some reason I felt weird... the words, best friend echoed in my mind.
It felt like, they were not good enough to satisfy me, it felt like I didn't want them.
It felt like I wanted... something else, but I quickly shook the thought away as we spent the rest of the day together.
