Akemi's P.O.V

'It's not going to happen ..

It absolutely won't be happening..'

"Akemi, dear, you'll start school again on Monday. Everything you need is already prepared."

That sentence worried me and stirred anxiety inside of me.

I swallowed the lump in my throat and softly spoke up.

"What school will I be attending?"

My mother's features morphed into pure confusion as she tilted her head, looking at me with questioning eyes.

"Your old school, obviously. Why would you ask such question?"

'I knew it.'

"I don't want to go back to that school, mom."

My eyes were cast at my feet as I refused to look my mother in the eyes.

"Why? Didn't you love this school? You were the one who gave your father and I a hard time when we left to America. You were so determined to stay. What caused you to change your mind?"

Her stern voice hung in the air giving off the authoritative aura that every parent possesses.

"Mom, I just-"

"Just what?"

I dared to lift my head and stared directly into her soft yet stern orbs. They were staring right through me trying to decipher my behavior.

"I Just don't feel like I belong there anymore..."

"Akemi?! What nonsense are you talking about?!"

"I just don't want to go back there, okay?!"

My mother widened her eyes and a mix of anger, confusion, disappointment and hurt appeared on her face.

"Don't you dare raise your voice at me like that! I raised you better!! Have some respect!!"

I felt guilty for yelling at her after all she's done for me, but my emotions were currently uncontrollable.

My head dropped due to the weight of the guilt of hurting a loved one. I exhaled a breath that I never realized I was holding and muttered a soft: "Fine , I'll go."

I then turned around and trudged to my room so I could rethink my life choices.

Time skip (Monday)

'I.hate.Mondays.'

It's a pretty common thought to have on your mind in the early morning.

I woke up almost 30 minutes before my alarm clock even rang, leaving me in agony as I lay there in bed waiting for the horrid sound to disturb this peaceful morning .

*RING RING RING RING*--

Finally the ear splitting sound rang and stopped as I slammed my palm onto the button and silenced the thing. Out of my open window I could see some birds flying off of a nearby tree, acting startled by the shrilling sound.

'Poor birds.' I thought as I slipped my feet on the cold floor blindly kicking around trying to find my footwear.

I hurried off to the bathroom for my usual routine.

A few minutes later I was almost finished with everything. I had my uniform on, my hair was brushed and pulled up in a neat ponytail.

Only my shoes were missing.

I looked around my room, spotting my shoes lying on the carpeted floor near the door.

'I must've lazily kicked them off .'

I shrugged and proceeded to walk out of my room and into the kitchen, grabbing an apple for a snack on the way and finally heading out.

I was trying to walk as slow as possible, trying to do everything it takes to be away from school, even if it's just for a few minutes.

Don't get me wrong. I don't hate school, cause if I did then I wouldn't have been one of the top students. Though I'm reluctant to come in contact with a certain person.

I don't need more things to distract me.

I kept on walking, knowing that I'll reach my destination eventually while taking a bite off of the fresh apple every few steps.

I was getting closer and closer, the anxiety was building up with every step that I took.

It was nerve wracking but, I decided to suck it up and pretend that nothing's wrong.

Finally I made it.

Looking around, there weren't many students arriving. Probably because the bell would ring in a few minutes and the only ones coming now are the ones who probably woke up late.

'I took too long.'

I gathered up what's left of my courage, stepped foot on the school's grounds and started to head in the direction of the doors.

I wasn't prepared for the bustling students running around, trying to get to their class as soon as possible to avoid getting a detention.

I carefully walked through the mob of rushing teenagers (yes , I had to slither across the wall at some point).

I still remember all the important places so finding the principle's office was a piece of cake.

Getting my timetable blah blah blah. I just got everything I needed and started looking for my current class, which probably started already since the bell rang.

When I found the said class, I stood in front of the door, feeling scared as if this was my first time experiencing this. The whole first day thing.

I raised my hand and knocked softly on the door before pushing it open with the most blank look I could muster on my face.

The class went silent along with the teacher, who was loudly giving a lecture about the subject written on the whiteboard just a few moments ago.

A surprised look settled on her face.

"I've never seen you around before! Perhaps you are a new student?"

"Uh...yeah."

'Poker face sustained. Good job me! I deserve a pat on the back.'

"Well, introduce yourself!"
The teacher's cheery self was absolutely oblivious to the weight that she just put on my shoulder.

I realized that I was still standing under the door frame so I took a few steps forward, making it easy for all of the students to have a very nice view of every future stupidity that I commit.

"I'm Suzuki Akemi, nice to meet you."

'Hah , as if.'

The teacher went on and on, telling the students to treat their fellow classmate, me, nicely.

My bored eyes blankly scanned the equally bored students in front of me. Some of them stared back at me with the same expression while the majority started whispering to each other. I could make out my name being thrown here and there in their not so secret conversations.

So some of them actually recognized me, huh.

Then my eyes landed on a raven haired... head. (That totally didn't sound weird).

The black hair wasn't hard to miss. Well, that's not the case for me. I could always recognize that black messy hair no matter what.

Slowly, my eyes traveled down only to lock with another set of wide, almost unblinking eyes.

'Keiko.'

Yeah, at that moment I basically cursed my luck to the moon and back.

Why.Did.He.Have.To.Be.In.My.Class?!

Why did I have to be in his class?!

Why in the world does lady luck enjoy pulling pranks on me so much?!?!?!

Screw life.
