CHAPTER FIVE
I very much foresaw this mess, we both did. Surprisingly, my current residence was in a 3 storey house. And by the look of it, vampires are really good with architecture. The thing is, our house was isolated blocks away from our supposed friendly neighbors.
I let out a grunt. Here I was carrying all my luggage with me and there he is leaving me behind to suffer.
"I accept help here. Someone really wanted me to suffer," I said. He looked at me, expressionless and rolled his eyes.
"You are not referring to me, right?" I glared at him. Mad at him so much that I wanted him to disperse just by my glare.
"Oh no! Your stare is really helping ," I sarcastically said but he didn't even think of helping, instead, he had given me 'the look' and went inside the house first.
He is too impossible! How can my parents let me marry a total arrogant man with a total i-don't-care attitude? It's their daughter we're talking here!
Realizing that my thoughts won't be heard by anyone here concerned. I carried my luggage inside.
This is too inhuman. Well, he isn't a human. My arms felt like separating themselves from my body. I felt so tired. Then, I saw him there, sitting comfortably on the couch, looking at me, quite entertained about my feminine feeble bones wearing out.
"Bastard," I mumbled.
"Woman," he muttered under his breath. Tired of arguing, I sat on the couch opposite where he had sat down. No one talked. I scanned my backpack and got my book of Myths, "Still hanging on that stupidness?"
"What is your problem?" I raised my voice at him and he, once again, glared at me.
In an instant, I heard stomach grumbling. It wasn't mine even though I was hungry. I looked at Evel who just sighed.
I started to chuckle but I held it back and said, "It's okay to be embarrassed," after a moment of silent, he was already in front of me, "Oi!" He was so close.
He tapped the book and jabbed a finger on a word written there, which was, blood. I gulped. He breathed against my ear and I cringed.
"Don't you dare or I'll tell on you!"
"Enlighten me, Kathy," he smirked then stood up, "Prepare me my meal or else I'd feed on your blood. Choose," he lazily sat down the couch again and I threw him the couch's pillow. He caught it and pushed it back to me. I growled.
"As far as I know, vampires don't have to eat! You don't die anyway."
"Adaptation, Kathy. Human world adaptation. How far can your stupidness go?" I took a glimpse of him and I kind of saw something shining in his mouth. He looked down trying to cover it.
"Fine!" Honestly, I was scared. He can feed on my blood anytime. It's not like he'd care. My hands were trembling when I got into the kitchen, I paused. If this was a dream, I want to wake up now.
Evel's POV
I just got the opportunity to bite her, but I can't. I won't. That possibility may happen and I don't want that.
Originally, I hated her. She's too loud, she never ran out of words, too troubling that she really deserves to be in the market. She hates me back.
I never liked the contract even before I have found out that she was the one I shall marry. It's not that I really hate her to also hate the contract, it's that I pity her. I wasn't that bad. She's just making things complicated and she's finding way for us to fight. Oh well, not helping her with carrying her bags was, yes, bad. She might have listed me in her 'Hate List at First Sight' now.
I don't do kindness in person. It's too gay and showy.
"Your dinner's on the table, mister perv," she said as she sat down the couch perpendicular to mine.
"Bring it here, slave," she narrowed her eyes on me while forming a fist.
"Don't call me slave, I ain't that. Don't order me because I am not anyone who makes you the master. Go and get food for yourself," after hearing those things, she leaned back and continued to read. I stood up and she followed me by her stare, "I am not responsible for washing your plates!" she added.
It sucks adapting other's nature. Big time sucks.
Even though Kathy argued in making me my food, she still made it. Pft. Like a boss. I glanced at her way and she was still reading. Poor woman, it's not like she'll get right details about us. Why do authors have to make it sound like our kind is too low-leveled? (N/A : I don't intend anything)
"You guys prey on humans, that's cannibalism!" She shouted.
"Tch," her eyes were show she's worrying about herself, I can't help but pity her. If I could have prevented this contract thing to happen... Wait, if I did, I can't say she's still safe.
I took the meat she had fried for me. So that's why she was quick. I don't mind eating it raw though. I just made her cook for me so she could stay away.
After eating, I placed the dishes on the sink. What am I going to do with this? What do I even know with dishes?
I went to the living room to ask if Kathy could operate the dishwasher. Although she said that she won't take any responsibilities in washing it, I won't let myself look stupid before those dishes.
"Kathy?" That's weird, her heart beat's slow.
I looked at the couch and I saw her there, sleeping. As to mention, it was already 11 in the evening. Time flew by so fast.
Carrying her was a piece of cake. She doesn't weigh that much. I wonder what she's eating. Or was she even eating? I carried her to her room and lay her down her bed. I picked up a blanket on the cabinet and placed it over her.
I brushed some strands of her face away from her face and I caught myself smiling. What am I thinking?
I stood up and went outside her room. I stood against her door a few seconds before I decided to get back down stairs. She left her things there, huh?
I heaved a sigh.
"What a drag"

A/N : Oh well, the chapter had accidentally been deleted so I have to type this again. To all who have read the first draft, and wondering why I excluded the next morning scene, that is because I ran out of time and forgot how it goes. If you are kind enough to send me the first draft - the next morning scene (through PM) I would appreciate it. Thank you and may the odds be in your favor
