"What's that one, mom?" I asked, furrowing my brow and pointing at the infinite, baby blue sky that was matted with fluffy white, cottony clouds. The clouds that freely floated through the air just as the birds did who were unbound by the walls
"It looks like that cloud is a big steaming bowl of noodles." Mom sighed happily, closing her eyes. I pulled a face.
"Ugh! Does not!" I gagged. "Don't compare clouds to food. I think it looks like a cat."
"Hm..." She mused, looking deeper. "A Lion, maybe?"
"What's a lion?" I asked curiously.
"Lions are outside the wall. They're like Titans, except they eat animals. They're like big, muscled kitty cats. With fluffy manes." She explained with a small laugh.
"How do you know that!" I snapped in an accusatory tone, sitting up to shoot a narrow-eyed look at her. She laughed and ruffled my soft, shoulder length lilac hair.
"Maybe I'll show you someday!" Mom laughed, tossing her violet hair over her shoulder as she sat up. Her chocolate brown eyes studied me for a moment and I sat there patiently for a moment before writhing under her stare.
"Ugh, quit that. Looking at me like you're gonna dissect me like Doctor Jeager," I growled and she smirked.
"Maybe, that's just what I'm going to do." She said in a weird voice, a cunning smile creeping across her face. I gasped and jumped backward in little to no time as her hand swiped for me. I was about to tumble ungracefully down the small grassy hill we were sitting on, close to kissing my own knees, when my hands gripped the ground and pulled my body around to stick the landing. "Definitely my kid," mom laughed, standing up and dusting herself off. I stuck my tongue out at her and she took the opportunity to snatch me up and make snarling noises in the crook of my neck that tickled. I squealed and screamed and thrashed, all while giggling like a fool.
"Alright, kiddo, we need to get back home. I don't know about you but I ready for some tea."
"Yes ma'am," I pulled myself off her and gazed across the flowing, rolling green fields with Sakura trees blossoming. Under one particular shade tree, I noticed a young boy and girl snoozing. My mother was halfway down the hill when she turned to look at me.
"Hey, Thalia, what's the holdup?" She followed my stare to the two kids who had just stirred awake and were arguing. I gasped and felt heat flood my face as I heard his familiar, shrill, obnoxious voice.
"Mn..." I mumbled, unable to look away as I scratched my arm awkwardly, feeling my hands break a sweat and my heart strangles to beat correctly in my chest.
"Sounds like that Jaeger kid and his little Mikasa friend." My mother mumbled. She glanced back at me and did a double take. "Wait...are you blushing?!"
"No!" I shouted, covering my face and looking away from Eren and Mikasa.
"You are! Awe, my little girl has got a little crush." She laughed and cooed at me. I fumed and stomped down the hill."Ugh, shut up..." I hissed under my breath, walking past her. But it didn't keep me from stealing another wistful look in their direction. Mikasa is so lucky...I don't even know how to speak around him with out stuttering through every letter of the alphabet...
"You know, Thalia," Mom sighed walking up behind me as we finally were on the dirt path and the two kids were out of sight. "I get that you're a shy girl and all, but your gonna have to move past it. Don't let fear of the unknown hold you back from anything. Fear helps us to realize our weaknesses, and as we realize them we can face them to make them stronger."
