"No! I have to stop them before they get through!" I shouted at the Garrison that was blocking me from continuing my goal. I could here violent rumbling and crashing from above. I had been waiting in the massive hole in the wall patiently for the titans that slowly dwindled toward us from the distance when I was intercepted by a brown haired Garrison.

"That's a negative, cadet!" He snapped at me. "You need to join the other recruits and get to HQ immediately!"

"God dammit!" I screamed in anger. I was filled with such drive and determination it was unreal. I had to use it. So, I decided to channel it into doing what I was told like a little lap dog and made my way back to HQ as quickly as I could. As I raced along the rooftops, I was joined by a grit-toothed Eren and the others. "What's the status on the Colossal?!" I demanded.

"He disappeared!" Eren told me and I snorted.

"How does a titan that huge just disappear!?"

"I don't know Thalia, okay?! Let's just get back to HQ to get our next orders!" Eren told me and I barely glanced over my shoulder as I heard cannon fire.

"The Garrisons don't stand a chance on their own..." I whispered.

"Out of the frying pan and into the fire, cadets! Time to put your training to work!" A trainer screamed at us as we ran around to restock and restore our gear. I had refilled my tanks and was in the process of shakily inspecting my blades. My entire body was quaking with adrenaline. I needed to do something. The more I sat here with my thumb up my ass the closer the titans got. "I have faith that each of you will be a credit to your regiment!"

What about my father? I suddenly thought. I had been so reckless earlier to fight a battle I had never participated in that my life was now directly on the line. What if I died? What if I died and he would never know the truth?

I hadn't realized I was crying.

"I should have known she was all big talk," I heard the familiar voice of Ymir sneer and I abruptly stood from the floor, weilding my dangerously sharp blade inches from her throat.

"Don't. Assume. Anything." I stated darkly, looking up at the dull faced, tall brunette. There was a stagger in the clatter that was echoing in the dimly lit room as several recruits watched the exchange. Ymir grinned at me in surprise.

"Take it easy, kitty cat," She laughed, her hands up in surrender.

"Fritz! Gato! Knock it off!" I quickly shoved my blades back in the bulky metal sheaths upon hearing the trainer yell at us. I looked over to see Mikasa not too far off standing with Eren who was consoling a terrified Armin. All I could hear was his frantic voice and I felt the shaking in my hands get worse. No! You're stronger than this, Thalia!

"Armin!" Eren yelled, grabbing him roughly. "You're focused on the past. Look ahead! We're not going to be the victims anymore!"

"...Sorry, I-I'm okay..." He quietly spoke, clicking together his gas tanks and secured it to his gear. I approached the group and lay a hand on Mikasa's shoulder. To my surprise, she gave a small jump.

"You okay?" I asked her, my eyes looking over her with worry. She brushed my hand off and nodded.

"I'm fine...I trust you're okay, seeing as you tried to fight Ymir a minute ago. Just like you," She whispered and I smiled though it didn't quite reach my eyes.
