Last night, Mikasa helped clean me up and tucked me into my bunk. Later, she roused me from my slumber to feed me water and a small loaf of bread she had snagged from the chow hall. Although the idea of food simply repulsed me, I couldn't go without eating. So, I scarfed it down quickly and went back to sleep.

This morning was a struggle to get ready as I tried to lace my boots around my swollen and sore calves. My shoulders were even sore as I struggled to braid my hair. I tried to keep my stomach light by sticking only to an apple and a cup of water. My outfit for today had changed. I was forced to wear my blue undershirt today since my others were dirty. Normally, I could wear them for two days in a row before they got too smelly, but the sweat and vomit on my other undershirt were just overbearing.

"Hey, guts, how's it going!" A girl snickered at me condescendingly as she walked by. I glared at her and threw my apple core at her, hitting her square on her head. "What the hell!" She shrieked, spinning around to face me. I glared at her darkly.

"Pick your battles carefully," I snipped at her.

"Why, you-!" She growled, her brown ponytail swinging as she started for me. Mikasa was quick to stop by my side.

"You obviously aren't that smart if you think fighting won't give you the same punishment that Thalia received," Mikasa told them evenly. "Besides, Thalia, I don't think your body is ready to be tormented again,"

"Yeah, well-," I began but trailed off as I realized she was right. The bell tolled and the girl gritted her teeth before making a speedy escape. "Mikasa, I-,"

"If you know what's good for you, you won't go around picking fights with everybody!" She cut me off quickly, her eyebrows furrowed. "I'm already looking after Eren,"

"Okay, fine," I sighed, walking outside with her.

Today would be the final day for the aptitude test. Failure to complete it successfully would result in being dropped from the program. From what I understood yesterday, Eren wasn't doing too hot. There, the hot head stood, harnessed in the tripod and ready to go. Keith watched Eren like a hawk as he spoke,

"Eren Jeager, are you ready?"

"Yes, sir!" Eren shouted in return, steeling himself. I could see the gears turning in his head. He wouldn't be defeated so easily. I began to get nervous as I watched him. Ever since that day on the boat I knew that all he wanted to do was become a scout and help lay defeat to the titans.

"Proceed!" Keith commanded. The Cadet began to roll the crank, lifting Eren into the air. I watched with baited breath as his feet left the ground...He's doing it! I screamed with joy, throwing my fist in the air.

"Go, Eren! You're doing it!" I laughed happily, seeing him finally accomplishing this skill...Suddenly, he began to rock back and forth and then swiveled, spinning around. I gasped in unison with the others as Eren was suspended upside down. "What?! But he was doing it!"

"No! Not yet! Once more! I can do it!" Eren cried out. Keith stood above Eren, staring down at him.

"Lower him," Keith said passively. Eren collapsed onto his knees, staring at his hands in defeat as he trembled.

"I-I'm finished..." Eren whispered brokenly, his eyes watering. Keith spun around and his eyes zeroed on me.

"Thalia," His voice announced and I froze, standing at attention. "Please exchange belts with Mr. Jeager,"
