I made the agreement and lost consciousness.

Back when I was still a child...

That day, I went to play in the field at the top of the hill near where I lived. I was so involved in picking flowers that I didn't notice the sky getting darker. Suddenly it was pouring rain. When the thunder startet, I got scared and began to cry.

"Whaaah...! Mom? Dad?"

Just then a boy appeared in front of me.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

I was sobbing.

"Are you afraid of the thunder?" He asked again.

I whisper: "Yeah..."

"Here, give me your hand. I'll write something on it." The boy took his finger and drew a mysterious symbol on my palm.

"There. Now there will be no more thunder."

"Really?" I looked up at him.

He answered: "Yeah. That charm works really well."

"Charm..." I stared at the palm of my hand and the fear melted away.

"I gotta go." The boy said.

"Thanks for the charm! You should come play sometime!"

"Okay. See you later." The boy grinned at me. But his face is a blur. I don't remember it clearly.
"Bye!"

The boy waved before disappearing into the rain.

I open my eyes. It's the same ceiling I see every day.

"That dream sure brings me back."

(Come to think of it, that boy was my first crush... But why would he show up in my dreams now? I had forgotten all about him...)

I wash my face and head back to my room when I smell something good coming from the kitchen.

(Huh? Is there someone in the kitchen?)

I follow the scent and peek into the kitchen. Samon is standing there, his sleeves rolled up.

"Good morning, Ayame." He friendly greets me.

I'm surprised. "Samon?! What are you doing?"

"Making breakfast." He answers.

"Why are you making breakfast?"

He begins to explain: "I was thinking that from now on I should support you and not only focus on the shrine. Cooking, laundry or whatever needs taking care of."

"What's with you all of sudden?" I'm confused right now.

"I thought it must be tough being on your own." Samon smiles a little meaningfully. "Well, don't worry about me."

(Err... How can I not...?)

"Breakfast will be ready soon. You should wait in the living room." And with that he kicks me out the kitchen.

(Samon has been helping out ever since I was little, but... Why the sudden change?)

I head towards the living room.

"What does he think is so tough anyway...?"

I slide open the door and immediately understand what Samon was talking about.
