3.4 Night with Shinra

He doesn't pay attention pay attention to my protests as he buries his face in my chest.

"C-cut it out!"

Shinra looks at me surprised. "Why? You wanted this."

"I did not!"

"I'm sorry? You said you wanted to sleep with me!" He angrily yells.

"How did you get that from what I said?!"

Shinra grins. "There's only one thing people do when they share a futon."

"Who said anything about sharing a futon? Yours is here!" I say as I lay out a futon a good six feet away from mine. "Get any closer to me and your out of here."

Shinra grumbles: "Is all this space really necessary?"

"Lay a finger on me and I scream!"

"Why can't I touch my girl?" Shinra whines.

"Your girl?!"

"Ugh, whatever. I'm going to sleep." That's all he said, bevor sliding under the covers.

(Maybe I shouldn't have let him in here.)

I turn off the lights and get in bed, back to back with Shinra.

A few minutes later...

(Okay... I can't sleep.)

The more I try not to think about it, the more my back seems to feel Shinra's presence.

(What am I going to do? My heart is racing.)

Unable to stand the silence, I talk to him.

"... You awake?"

"What?" Shinra responds immediately.

"Um, nothing... Are you cold?"

He answers quietly: "...Not really."

"..."

"..."

The awkward silence continues.

"It feels great to be in a bed." Shinra murmurs.

"Hm?"

"Your know, because a certain somebody chased me out of the room yesterday." He grumbles.

"I'm sorry about that."

"Well, you can't be too careful." Shinra points out. "Miyabi is who you really gotta look out for."

"And you..."

"Did you say something?" He growls.

"N-nothing."

Shinra speaks up again. "Anyway, don't let any of those guys in here."

"...Okay."

"Hey. Are you still scared of thunder?" He suddenly asks.

"Huh?"

Shinra insist. "Before. You did some weird charm thing."

"Th-that was just something I remembered from when I was a kid. I'm not scared of it now."

"Oh, really..." From the tone of his voice, I can tell he's grinning.

"Really! I'm not!"

"Okay, okay." He doesn't sound convinced.

(Wait. What did he mean by 'still'?)

"Shinra? How did you..." I turn around. He's already asleep. "...That's was fast."

(Something is off.)

The mysterious oni is affecting my life more and more as I get to know him better.
